It's not an excuse but maturing is realizing all of that and understanding their side and why they do what they did. Maturing is also being the bigger person and forgiving. No parent is given an instruction manual on how to raise a kid. They all just wing it, even with books, it'll only teach you so far on how to be a parent. You are a good parent only because you had not so good parents and you fix their mistakes. You refine their raising methods with raising your own kids. Their mistakes are the building blocks for your better parenting, without them you'd be making the same mistakes. Not you per say but in general, wouldn't you agree?
