“We Are The Ones P¥nishing Ourselves” — Actor Wale Okunnu Reacts As Petrol Hits N1,350 Per Litre Actor Wale Okunnu has blamed marketers for the rising petrol pump price in Nigeria, questioning why the cost continues to surge despite global petrol prices remaining relatively stable. Speaking in a video shared on social media, he expressed concern over the sharp increase in fuel prices over a short period. Okunnu said, “As at Saturday, petrol was N1240 per litre but as at Sunday, March 22, it has risen to N1340 per litre. Please, is it the government that increased the pump price within hours or we the people? What the marketers are doing with regards to petrol pump price is not small”. He further stated; “We know there is w@r in Isreal and Iran but don’t we have our own crude oil? Why is it that our own petrol is so expensive? Other countries that have petrol, why is theirs not as expensive as ours? We are the ones p¥nishing ourselves.”
