We've heard your feedback on the current Iron Banner armor set as well as the overall state of unique and compelling earned rewards. The overall balance in paid and earned armor cosmetics is off for this season and we're aiming to adjust our approach to earned rewards in the future. In the short term, today we will be changing the visuals of Iron Banner's Iron Beryllium set to instead use those of the upcoming Ancient Majesty set, shown here. The Iron Beryllium set's original visuals will be available in a later update. The Ancient Majesty set will now become the Iron Banner set and will not be made purchasable on the Eververse store. There will be a temporary issue where the gear will still show the Iron Beryllium set's original icons - we will fix this in a future patch. We also note that the theme of the set's name and Set Bonuses may not match the new visuals - we'll aim to update this as well. In addition to last week's incremental Ash & Iron reward increases, we're also working on bigger improvements to progression via the Portal on top of the Update 9.1.0.1 changes going live today. We will share additional information about these efforts in this week's TWID on Thursday. Expect additional communication over these next few weeks as well as a roadmap to communicate how we will roll these plans out over time.

@PaulTassi If this weren’t D2 this would be cool. Nothing about this update shows an interesting story. EOF story was already average and this looks even worst since Bungie couldn’t even come up with their own way to do this story. Instead just bought inspiration from SW. Creatively meh.

@PaulTassi You also can’t inherently outpace the difficulty either. In most MMO, ARPG, and ilvl games you can normally become a truly powerful being. Playing Fabled/Mythic just feels boring plinking away and getting average to bad rewards.

Portal continues to feel strange to me. It’s just like you pick like 80% of the same modifiers every time (locked loadout!), do mostly the same runs outside of some bonus drops and repeat what, 300 times until you lose your bonus power next season?

After sleeping on it, I am 100% convinced that if Matterspark just straight up didn’t exist, the perception of Edge of Fate would be so much better.
The narrative team absolutely COOKED, but the constant forced ball gameplay REALLY detracts from the campaign experience.

@PaulTassi I have work commitments that mean no point buying on launch. That being said I also have no strong desire to buy immediately when I return. The new location is not interesting in the slightest to me personally. Nothing is particularly exciting in the exp for me.

It appears that Edge of Fate will peak under 100K Steam concurrents on launch day. No other expansion has ever done under 200K. Last three were 290-315K.
Just where we are now. Given recent pre-launch averages, my max prediction was 120K

@PaulTassi JJ Abrams hated this as well and spoke out about it for ages. Unfortunately the statistics support this type of marketing. It showed that the larger audiences want to know what they are going in to watch and spend their money on before they sit down 🤦♂️

If there was one issue with Superman it’s that the marketing eventually went way overboard with releasing scenes early. Now Fantastic Four is doing it (this clip which I’m not even retweeting is crazy to post)
