@LamboMat @50PlusGamer1970 @InsiderGamingIG I agree that, overall, Phil Spencer’s message came across negatively. But I think the same goes for exclusives—and even more so. Everyone (including Xbox in the past) has always emphasized the importance of exclusives for a console’s sales.
English

@VSvHnD @50PlusGamer1970 @InsiderGamingIG It’s a natural attrition of market conditions and consistently poor output, along with brand mis-alignment towards end of Phil Spencer’s reign in charge. I genuinely don’t think it has anything to do with brand damage from going multi-plat, but just my opinion.

Xbox Having "Very Big Discussions" About Exclusivity, It's Claimed

@LamboMat @50PlusGamer1970 @InsiderGamingIG I think that if those factors had really mattered, Sony would have been affected in the same way.
They were also impacted by those issues, and yet the PS5’s sales curve is completely different from that of the Xbox.
English

@VSvHnD @50PlusGamer1970 @InsiderGamingIG Logic would suggest a couple of things highly likely to be occurring here.
🔸prices of consoles have failed to decline this gen, as opposed to every other gen. So it’s not a fair comparison.
🔸 Xbox have had a poor line-up of games for years, with nothing moving the needle
English

@LamboMat @50PlusGamer1970 @InsiderGamingIG The sales curve for the Xbox Series was very close to that of the Xbox One, and yet the Xbox Series has slowed down and is now trailing the One. My definition of “poor sales” is based on observations of the Xbox business, not just a personal opinion.

English

@VSvHnD @50PlusGamer1970 @InsiderGamingIG I think, with respect, that is your perception and not based on any fact whatsoever.
Xbox had a problem selling consoles regardless of how their IP performs on PS. I’d ask you to define ‘poor sales’, though again you’d likely list what is poor to you, not the XB business.
English

@LamboMat @50PlusGamer1970 @InsiderGamingIG Ironically, I feel like your comment applies to you, not to me.
Yes, Xbox has struggled to sell its consoles for years, but there’s a clear and noticeable decline starting in 2024.
English

@LamboMat @50PlusGamer1970 @InsiderGamingIG Most games have sold poorly on the PS5, and this has had a very negative impact on the Xbox brand, leading to a significant drop in console sales.
English

@BennoJax @Tidus514 @50PlusGamer1970 @InsiderGamingIG Not right away. They’ve already invested in their new consoles, and most Game Pass subscribers are still playing on consoles. As long as that’s the case, they’ll have to keep making consoles so they don’t lose all that revenue.
English

@VSvHnD @Tidus514 @50PlusGamer1970 @InsiderGamingIG it would be better for them just to make games and gamepass at this point.
English

@50PlusGamer1970 @Tidus514 @InsiderGamingIG I’m sure there won’t just be a $1,000 console; there will also be a successor to the Series S because there needs to be an affordable console.
Also, hardware and software are closely linked. If they want to sell software, they need their hardware to sell.
English

@VSvHnD @Tidus514 @InsiderGamingIG They did that already and now they want to sell you a 1200 box. Nah. They care about software not hardware. It’s MS
English

@Tidus514 @50PlusGamer1970 @InsiderGamingIG Exclusives are a better long-term strategy. If their goal is to still be in business as a console manufacturer in 10 years, exclusives are the best option.
English

@VSvHnD @50PlusGamer1970 @InsiderGamingIG So go back to the strategy that's worse? Ya sure, makes sense.
English

@50PlusGamer1970 @InsiderGamingIG Multiplateform didn’t work either so yeah it’s normal to explore every option atp.
English

@InsiderGamingIG Yeah cause companies go back to failed strategies.
English

@MSTretrogaming @KoreaXboxnews That would be unusual. Generally, companies highlight new releases, not old ones.
English

@KoreaXboxnews It’s referring to legacy exclusives not the return of new ones.
English

Xbox has brought back the term ‘Xbox Exclusive.’
@
Saw this just now in Game Pass on my Xbox Series X. Is it fair to say that this could be an indicator that exclusives are making a return? 👀
English

@SynisterVee @LordSothk0tlrip @B1gDaddyMarv As a true expert on the brand, I can share my incredible knowledge with you through this wonderful piece of advice: Read the articles, not just the headlines.
The information I’ve provided is backed by sources I’m no fortune-teller, lol.
English

@VSvHnD @LordSothk0tlrip @B1gDaddyMarv Please tell us lowly ponies about what Microsoft plans to do from here on out since you're the most knowledgeable when it comes to Microsoft's business plans with Xbox. 😆😂🤣
English

Asha Sharma “hears you.” She is emphasizing a “return to Xbox.” She deleted the hated “This is an Xbox” slogan. She’s said, “The plan is the plan, until it's not the plan.” Does that mean Xbox exclusives are coming back, though? 😬
Question for the PlayStation fam. After getting a taste of Xbox on your PS5. Would you buy a Helix if that’s the only console you could play Xbox games?

English

@SK111zz @charlieINTEL @tomwarren I’m not replaying 90% of the games I’ve finished. Owning them is useless to me and I believe it’s the same for most people.
English

@charlieINTEL @tomwarren Play to own it. If you play a game enough you should get to keep it and own it. The discount is not enough and if you downgrade or cancel you own nothing.
English

Xbox CEO says in an internal memo that Game Pass is 'too expensive'
"Game Pass has become too expensive for players, so we need a better value equation...we will evolve Game Pass into a more flexible system which will take time to test and learn around"
[via @tomwarren]

English

@LordSothk0tlrip @B1gDaddyMarv In that case, what are you basing that on?
The same goes for Game Pass, we all agree that this monetization model brings in less money than selling individual copies, but to say it isn’t profitable isn’t backed up by any credible sources that I’m aware of.
English

@VSvHnD @B1gDaddyMarv So no, the increased profit margin isn’t why they went third-party. It had nothing to do with it. Third-party plans were in motion way before any data was known or analyzed from the increased profit margin
English

@LordSothk0tlrip @B1gDaddyMarv That's false. Microsoft demanded higher profit margins in the fall of 2023. At that time, no games had been released on other platforms. They announced them in February 2024.
We didn't find out about this until much later, but it had already been going on for a while.
English

@VSvHnD @B1gDaddyMarv None of that is true. Demanding higher profits is not why they went third-party. The higher profit margin came after games started getting ported. Before the higher profit margin Game pass revenue when it was $20 a month wasn’t profitable.
