Recurrent PMP affects 1/3rd of operated PMP pts. Sometimes with very adv disease, traditional Rx is near impossible. Multi-visceral resection and transplant can allow Rx of this devastating condition Prof @AnilV_AHEL & team at MGM hospital, Chennai in 🇮🇳 have successfully performed one This is one of the only facilities outside Oxford/Basingstoke in 🇬🇧 and Cleveland clinic in 🇺🇸 to offer this. Robotic IVC thrombectomy is a great minimally invasive option in select patients with RCC. I found the 4-0/5-0 gortex suture easier to suture the IVC with compared to prolene. But as long as it is closed and hemostatic, doesn’t really matter! @HUMCUrology @UroOnc

Your Match Day reminder that square knots look the same at hospitals of every ranking, and matching *somewhere* is what matters.
The grass is not always greener at your ‘top’ programs, and in the end, both your potential and the basic principles of surgery are still the same.

We do all the kidney and pancreas transplants and all the vascular procedures in urology. Encourage residents to train with us and learn from people like @moeltemamy and @Dr_JihadKaouk.

💯% agree Sia. With drop out of 2nd year of gen surg training and min exposure to transplant more training of vascular control and repair is needed. We use a combo of didactics, dry lab and live animal training in a course we devel for our GUfellows prior to their clinical year

When teaching control of a significant bleed during surgery I tell trainees “Don’t lose exposure … or your composure”. Excellent essay written a few years ago by @WesleyYipMD for @AmerUrological on the other perspective. We need more realistic training models.
