@brandilwells Its not BS. Its happened to me several times. Cannabinoid Hypermesis Syndrome fucking SUCKS. I have 4k in hostpital bills for it, and all they told me I could do to make it better was to take a hot shower or quit. I agree on everything else here.

This is not a win. Cannabis is a natural flowering herb, not a drug. They have no business scheduling it period. No one has ever died of a cannabis overdose. Not one. That cannabis puking disorder is BS too.

@BrodieOnLinux Over here in NZ we've had the tax thing for a long time n I remember in HS we used to get tobacco from the same folks we later got weed from. Quite a few ended up w contacts from dealers and gangs we otherwise likely wouldn't have ever connected w if it weren't for the backy

Let me give you a story about Australia, we have incredibly high taxes on cigarettes, we also have cancer images on the sides of boxes. What I've noticed in the past year or 2 is a near complete lack of Australian cigarette boxes on the ground, instead being replaced with imports

@sabdiangelo @spinningjoe Yeah so they get annoyed with having to go without their phones and learn to not go on it during times it would get confiscated, to avoid the annoyance. The consequence of not having your phone for a whole day is annoying. It does work when its actually done

@ValVixenKitty @spinningjoe in my experience that doesn’t work really well, with real consequences like spending a whole day without their phones yeah but just getting annoyed don’t do that for them

the problem with having a phone available for emergencies is it is easy for the concept of an emergency to be stretched very thin

@ValVixenKitty @spinningjoe difference was that our parents actually agreed we shouldnt be on our phones during class, nowadays parents will call and pitch a fit if you take the phone away bc they absolutely need to contact their kid 24/7 (bc apparently calling the school isnt reasonable)

I do not understand all the doctor-hating that seems to fill so much space online. I say that as a physician, yes. And also as someone who has now been on the other side of the bedrail. Of course, there are bad doctors. No profession is exempt from that. But the worst examples often consume all the attention, and in doing so, they can obscure something deeply true: great doctors bring hope, healing, and restoration into people’s lives every single day. I know that differently now. When I was the patient, lying on the ground with a shattered kneecap, staring at imaging that showed my patella in pieces, watching my knee fill with blood, feeling pain that seemed impossible to control, and fearing I might never walk normally again, I was not thinking about abstractions. I was thinking about disability. About loss. About whether life and physical ability, as I knew them, had just changed forever. Then I met the surgeon who reconstructed my knee. I will never forget Archie Heddings. He showed me the images and explained exactly what he would do. Piece by piece, he walked me through how he would reconstruct what had been broken. Screws. Tape. Sutures. Precision. Skill. Calm. He was quietly confident, never overstated. At one point I just bluntly asked, “Doc, can you fix this?” He looked at me, nodded calmly, and said, “Andrew, this is what I do. I fix broken, smashed stuff every day, all day. Fucking sucks that as someone who watches a lot of docs all the time, I need to Google each one before pressing play so i don't get jumpscared by some human/monster/doll abomination or distracted/confused by fabricated images that throw off my interpretation of a case.

Its been done before, successfully, for years without ai. When you slap an ai face onto someone it feels creepy and it's weird and distracts from the actual story and emotion. If you can't figure out how to do it without ai, find a new line of work bc this ain't for you.

"Digitally anonymising" interviewees with AI in a documentary just shows that the documentarians producing the film or show are so utterly shit at their jobs that they can't figure out how to convey an emotional story with clever lighting and shooting while keeping faces hidden.
