@SBuckEnglish @advocategreen1 @GuyPlummer34449 I think it can make a whole load of difference if Mum is teaching at the school, you know and can see what is going on,also the child probably feels more protected.Just saying.

@advocategreen1 @GuyPlummer34449 My reason for commenting is that there is a lot of scaremongering. The pressure that puts on parents to scrimp and save for a private education is inexcusable. As I say, it’s a personal and very individual choice, but all of our high schools have received positive inspections.

And perhaps the only barrier to more leakage is cost Yet although we can say this saves the State money; as a community are we really happy with having effectively such a large %in private education. Is it healthy for the community?
Guy Plummer@GuyPlummer34449

Since 2010 there has been an overall leakage from the state to private education from reception to Year 11 of 4% and more to Year 13 More parents have willing to use their declining real terms incomes for their children’s education.

@HaleyCamp @pvbsc1 @GuyPlummer34449 @ShaneLanglois They are all pretty full now and there’s sizeable waiting lists at the colleges for Year 7 entry years going forward. Parents are having to move their children to the public schools before Year 7 in order to secure a place.

@DavidPiesing63 @pvbsc1 @GuyPlummer34449 @ShaneLanglois The private schools haven’t added capacity; explain the totals remaining fairly static? But I wonder what change in socio-economic make-up might have happened, as those without the money have no route of access to the private colleges anymore.

@pvbsc1 @GuyPlummer34449 ESC know it makes sense but probably too scared to even mention it,just like they will push the review of primary schools into the long grass as they know it would be curtains for their political careers.

Are we happy to consider closing of schools when we know that more people will be needed to come to the island to deal with HSC committment, filling the jobs vacated by retirees and the building work desperately needed?

@guernseygirl6 In my view: 1. The nature of local politics itself. The very slow or zero progress, the endless meetings achieving little, the criticism / abuse. 2. The loss of family time, freedom, privacy etc. 3. The gnawing feeling that there's better things to be doing.

"Because I'm tired of it. Year after year after year after year having to chose between the lesser of who cares, of trying to get myself excited about a candidate who can speak in complete sentences, of setting the bar so low, I can hardly look at it."

It's quite remarkable how many people can't spell "Keir". I mean, if you must share your hot take on some political matter, at least spell the bloke's name right.

@Ronst21 @AltoAngel It really annoys me when businesses think everyone is tech savvy, they certainly are not,I know a lot of ppl still pay with cash.An app to some does not make any sense.I will ask my 7 yr old grandaughter to help me.🤣🤦‍♀️

@ValeBeryl @AltoAngel It’s just the App / website you need and linked to your Waitrose card. Agree though it’s not helpful to some old folks who don’t use tech

@ValeBeryl They're supposed to be treats, things you wouldn't buy otherwise. They give vouchers for the things you normally buy.

@richarddigard @GuyPlummer34449 Selfishness, what a strange thing to say, have you seen the cost of childcare,it is ridiculous. Both parents/parent have to go out to work whether they like it or not.Clubs for kids are expensive, food and clothes are expensive.I think it’s being sensible.

@GuyPlummer34449 I didn’t apportion blame. But I doubt islanders have gone off sex so something else is persuading them not to have nippers. Global uncertainty, sure. More likely cost of housing, declining real incomes, and concern for future prospects in Gsy?

@StoneDeCroze @nationaltrust When my grandson was quite small about 5,he got told off for riding on the common. That really annoyed me.It was the way he was told too.I think the common should have a day off from golfers.Ouch!

Typical Guernsey, its easier to ban something than find a solution where people can share space on our small island. Where does the @nationaltrust suggest is suitable?
