@atRachelGilmore I wonder if this budget actually does reflect Carney’s fiscal sensibility to a large extent. It’s largely in keeping with a lot of the ideas he has expressed or so it seems to me at least.

I kept wondering why the Liberals wrote a budget that only really seemed designed to appeal to Conservatives, rather than any other party, given there was no way the Conservatives would vote for it. But given the floor-crosser-hunter strategy from the Liberals, it actually makes sense to ask: Insofar as they included elements to appeal to any one party, did the Liberals write this budget to appeal to those potential floor crossers?

@michaelgeller @SarahGrochowski If the terms of the lease have options from renewals that may exceed 30y it may still trigger the tax. The transfer tax system is extremely inflexible even in clearly unfair and unintended scenarios.

"The tax stems from a provision in provincial legislation that treats lease renewals for terms over 30 years as if they were property sales, triggering the tax, even though ownership does not change hands" So why don't they renew for 25 years? @SarahGrochowski

Hey @AudiCanada and @openroadaudi can you explain why a button on my climate control panel that was faulty and snapped under normal use is not covered under my full warranty and why @AudiCanada refuses to even share with me a copy of the warranty terms? One broken button $4200?!

Life isn’t supposed to be this hard. You weren’t meant to get a good education, make sacrifices and work a full-time job just to come home at night feeling stressed that you can’t pay the bills, buy healthy food, afford a vacation and never be able to buy a home. Life wasn’t this hard before. It wasn’t. This isn’t a result of foreign conflict, a pandemic, or the generic “tough times.” This is the result of a government that spent so much money it didn’t have, forcing the central bank to print more cash, which deflated the value of your dollars, but increased the price of things you needed to buy. This is the result of a government that kneecapped our resource sectors limiting our capacity to export goods and bring in wealth and powerful paycheques for our people. This is the result of greedy politicians who wasted your hard earned money on billion dollar photo ops. Photo ops and false promises which do nothing to fix the problems their talking about, but convince many Canadians, who are desperate for better times, that more government spending will fix this disaster, when all it does is pour gasoline on the fire. Right now, we have a grotesquely obese government sitting on the shoulders of an emancipated and anemic working class who is being taxed to death and told to work harder because we’re going through “challenging times.” These times were manufactured by a self-serving, controlling, wasteful, unethical, corrupt and misleading Liberal government. And thank God, its days are numbered.

@samanthacp_ Emaciated and anemic sounds redundant even if the words are clearly two different things but feels like they get the same point across. Now, with emancipated it gives off weird Opposite Day vibes.

I'm about to pay corporate taxes to the Quebec and Canadian government that would take me ten years to save under my professor's salary. I could have used this money to pay for my children's university education (in Canada). The money will disappear, and be used to support "immigrants" to Canada who wish to kill my children. The QC and Canadian governments tax my mind, my words, my ideas, my book royalties, when 99% of the money is generated outside of Canada. Already, from my professor's salary alone, I pay more taxes than 95% of Canadians. Is this a fair system? Is this a moral system? How much taxes can you levy from an individual before it becomes too onerous? @francoislegault @justintrudeau @PierrePoilievre Our family's future is not here. I hope that by some form of cosmic justice, EVERY CENT that was stolen from the taxing of my mind will be returned to me.

Scoops @Keefe21 : "The locker room is a disaster, and David Pastrnak is at the center of that. David Pastrnak has told the team he doesn't want to be on a line with Brad Marchand, and it may stem from Brad Marchand calling out Pastrnak for some of his play."😳 Yikes.

@IRPlawyer While I agree with the premise, the idea that further tightening the powers of landlords will only create downward pressure in a system looking for more loopholes. We need to appreciate that the market will not solve this problem without very severe and unpalatable measures.

@IRPlawyer @randsacked How much do you, and those in your profession, make for a living? If you wish to regulate income, let's start with lawyers. Governments should also provide free legal representation.

@IRPlawyer With respect Kyla, I think trying to offload these issues in private property owners is short sighted and misguided. Maybe the government should build some more affordable rentals on the billions of underutilized provincial and municipal land.

The BC government should pass a law that says that a property owner cannot demolish or evict to renovate a place with an existing residential tenancy unless the owner secures a comparable tenancy for each tenant in advance of the eviction.

Call me crazy but shut up LG went on a podcast geared towards oil fans and gave his own opinion. He wasn't at work, he wasn't on sportsnet, he wasn't on behalf of sportsnet - he was speaking as Luke Gazdic. Expecting an apology for something you don't agree with is nuts.
