The suspect, a Chinese national said to have become naturalised in Malaysia, was arrested on Sunday, May 17, 2026, after arriving in Nigeria from Thailand via Dubai aboard an Emirates Airline flight. During interrogation, Ting Hung Kiong, who claimed to work as a caregiver in Malaysia, told authorities that her daughter sponsored her trip from Malaysia to Thailand and later to Nigeria.
