I'm a big fan of the death of the author, but I'm curious if this was an intentional connection between you and Chris from your time working together or if it's just coincidence... or if I'm just reading too far into it altogether 😅

As I'm getting further into the game, I'm noticing some clear parallels between Herzog's observations of nature and the views expressed in Lifthrasir's audio logs, not to mention the obvious thick German accent.

@JonasKyratzes Alright, I have to know: Is Lifthrasir inspired by Werner Herzog? I know you work with Chris Christodoulou, and I've noticed a number of his songs use an audio sample from this Herzog speech(youtu.be/uL99NDUWJ0A?t=…) including his work in TGotF

@JonasKyratzes You clearly put a lot of time and energy into encouraging your players to think. Even TEC, though not as on the nose as TTP, had some seriously heavy themes and symbolism. I could spend hours sharing my thoughts on that game. I still need to play TSWCE though. It's on my list 😄

@JonasKyratzes I have listened to the Gospels of the Flood so many times as I drift off to sleep, but the line "Not even love has power over the sea, and in the end the sea will claim everything," still strikes me with profound sadness.

I love that in a world of near-immortal robots built in the image of humanity post-apocalypse, the tragedy of humanity's death, the metaphorical flood, is outshined by the birth of a new people who, from that tragedy, seek to bring new light to the universe.

Matthew's story is one of love, loss, the inevitability of death, and the haunting ghost of memory. I think it's interesting that you've taken that and, filtered through Byron's worldview, turned it into a hopeful message about the value of life.
