𝐀 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐈’𝐦 𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐬: “𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧?” The answer is simple — 𝐈 𝐚𝐦 𝐚 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧. I have experienced, and witnessed firsthand, many of the barriers that shape the realities of African women today. From financial exclusion and limited access to credit, to restricted economic autonomy, to women consistently being overlooked for funding and capital, these challenges are real. Too often, women are navigating systems that were not designed with them in mind. And yet, women continue to build, lead, and innovate. The capability has never been in question — access has. Recently, I spoke at KCA University under the theme “Her Story, Her Power.” It was a reminder that when women own their narratives, something shifts not just in confidence, but in possibility.
