UPDATE: Kenya's High Court declares that registered mobile phone number constitutes a digital identifier linking personal data that relates to an individual’s private affairs hence qualifies for protection under Article 31 (c) & (d) of the Constitution to safeguard the right not have information relating to private affairs unnecessarily required or disclosed. This declaration by the High Court follows a petition challenging the reassignment &/or recycling of the deactivated but previously registered mobile telephone numbers owing to extended period of inactivity or non-use. The High Court has now given the Office of the Attorney General 6 months to take all necessary and appropriate measures to safeguard digital identity associated with the registered mobile telephone number against unfettered deactivation, and subsequent arbitrary reassignment or recycling. The High Court rules that reassignment of cell phone numbers should happen only when/if: 1. There is the previous registered owner’s informed & verifiable consent 2. After expiry of reasonable period following issuance of public notice which must be preceded by through documented verification process aimed at confirming the original registered owner cannot be located or has unequivocally revoked the rights to the number 3. Technical safeguards be put in place and implemented to prevent unauthorized exposure or transfer of personal data linked to previous registered owner to 3rd Parties upon reassignment or recycling of the number

Deeply saddened by the passing of my dear friend and former Prime Minister of Kenya, Mr. Raila Odinga. He was a towering statesman and a cherished friend of India. I had the privilege of knowing him closely since my days as Chief Minister of Gujarat and our association continued over the years. He had a special affection for India, our culture, values and ancient wisdom. This was reflected in his efforts to strengthen India-Kenya ties. He particularly admired Ayurveda and traditional medicine systems of India, having witnessed their positive impact on his daughter's health. I extend my deepest condolences to his family, friends and to the people of Kenya in this hour of grief.

🇷🇺 Russian Health Minister Saves Life Mid-flight On a Moscow–Hanoi flight, a 50-year-old passenger suffered a hypertensive crisis. The crew called for help, and by chance, Russia’s Health Minister Mikhail Murashko was onboard. Murashko treated the man, stabilized him within an hour, and the passenger safely completed the flight.

For the past couple of years, I have been calling out the management of our capital, the sheer neglect and lack of basic services. The city is rotting, no matter where you live, whether in the upper, middle or low-income areas. I always encourage citizens to keep their environment clean, and I do my part. The county’s failure is shocking, no proper roads, open manholes everywhere, no pedestrian walkways, hawkers, kiosks and boda bodas blocking roundabouts and footpaths, piles of uncollected garbage and open sewers. These are all the responsibilities of a working county. There isn’t a dustbin in the entire Westlands constituency, nor county cleaning regularly or garbage collection. No large waste collector bins anywhere — where exactly are people supposed to dispose of their garbage? Each Sunday, Gucci and I go around documenting this mess. The once beautiful Westlands now looks like downtown Luthuli , plastered with billboards from Westlands and Parklands to Spring Valley and Lower Kabete. It seems illiterate, corrupt, third-class villagers are in charge. The pictures in the thread, as usual. Sorry, but it is what it is.
