Perhaps it would be helpful if the gun lobby would spend less time criticizing and rage farming against the government, Liberals and concerned gun control groups and actually suggest reasonable alternative policy beyond "go after the criminals".

Lets be honest - they don't need to show anything. At these point, event if the quote was about beautiful, intelligent, sane and funny members of beloved activist group, who got devoured by space gremlins, I would believe it without hesitation or any proof. ("A prominent gun control lobby was hit with an X fact-check Wednesday after falsely claiming SKS variants are 'prohibited' firearms.") In our Op-ed, we quote the Expert Advisory Panel on Firearms that says legal guns like SKS variants share same characteristics as prohibited firearms - the OPPOSITE of saying SKS variants are prohibited (they SHOULD be). Sad that you publish a report that actually makes a false claim in response to a #GunTroll generated @CommunityNotes that doesn't even negate the essence of what we wrote (the note is about the colloquial use of the term "loophole"). Please correct or delete your article.

If and only if they run afoul of the law in some way. If you are suggesting that my trusty .22 and 12 gauge requires committed RCMP daily vetting then indeed we have a problem with police resources.

A known gap in Canada’s gun laws is costing lives. The #SKS loophole - for a semi-automatic firearm originally designed for military use - is no longer defensible. The rifle has been used in multiple high-profile incidents involving civilians and police, including the 2018 Fredericton shooting that killed two police officers and two civilians. Honest question here. Why exactly are we treating writing of all those killers seriously, and get worked up over those "manifestos" as if it was works of Mark Aurelius or Benjamin Franklin at the least? I don't think its unlikely that whatever he wrote is just a bunch of random ramblings written by a mentally unstable person. Why do we assume any of that had any value at all? Or explains anything? Did that guy wrote anything before? Anything that could confirm his understanding of reality, other people's (and his own) motives, anything that was proven to make sense etc? What if he just copied some current, random talking points found on Bluesky? If some illiterate barbarian who only learnt how to draw a penis and write fu.k (because saw it in a public toilet) writes it on a piece of paper before commiting a crime. Are we seriously going to overanalyze that? And search for hidden meanings?

Seth Hatfield, the Montreal shooter left a lengthy list problems that are creating this crisis in masculinity. But chief among them was pornography and how it is destroying the lives of young men & women. The shooting/killings at PornHub is not coincidental or accidental. The male incel culture of despair & resentment is directly tied to the proliferation of porn. Judging by who is financing those "advocacy groups", its hard not to notice that they seem to be rather...well.... government advocacy groups, don't they?
