My husband is “high quality” and he chose me , a redeemed sinner.. a really bad one actually. Let me explain what high quality is, Tanner , if this actually was a thing … a man who submits to Christ, honors his father and mother, is kind and patient with others, loves his wife like Christ loves his church, walks in the way of Christ, chooses obedience, and doesn’t sit online to call those who Christ redeemed from a promiscuous past , whores.
Tanner Cartwright 🇺🇸🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿@TanneriteCortez

Young ladies, it is very true that God redeems sinners and bedding a bunch of random men can be forgiven in Christ. It is also true that you are far less desirable as a wife if you go that route and most high quality, Godly men will not have an interest in you. Don’t go down that road. Stay chaste and pure and wait for your husband. You will miss out on nothing but the consequences of your sin and marriage will be much easier. Any sane woman who has gone down that road would tell you the same thing. Redemption doesn’t do away with temporal consequences. It just doesn’t. God bless.

An open letter to @benshapiro, @andrewklavan, and @michaeljknowles: You have publicly wronged a good man, Trevor Sheatz. Each of you is a conservative leader. Many of us respect you for your contributions to public life in different ways. However, you have failed to honor the truth in this instance, and you have brought great shame to a young husband and his wife. You have held them up publicly to severe scorn, and people have sadly followed suit. Here is the truth, men. Ashley Sheatz has shared her conversion testimony for years. As one example, the screenshot below is from an article she wrote in May 2020 for a website I edited (it was called Reformanda and is no longer operating). I refer you to it for clarity. Of her own volition, Ashley shared about her deliverance from promiscuity, the occult, and doing hard drugs. These things wrecked and ruined her life. Again, Ashley was clear as crystal about her sexual sin, and said more about it in the 2020 article she wrote than Trevor did in the X post you tore to shreds on air. She has publicly talked about her deliverance from sexual sin on numerous occasions. (Nor did Trevor call his wife derogatory words--it's really disappointing that you all collectively presented him as doing so.) Ashley does all this--from what I know--not to be salacious or get clicks. (Nor does Trevor.) She does so to warn others about the destructiveness of sin, and even more than this, the redeeming power of the blood of Jesus. Ashley, with her husband Trevor, is a born again believer. I won't speak for her, but as a friend of her and Trevor, I know that she lives to magnify the mercy of God in her life. This letter is not written in fury or pique. I write it in love to each of you men to ask you to correct the record and consider the ungraciousness of your remarks about Trevor Sheatz. You are each a respected public figure; your words get carry a great deal of weight, far more than I have or Trevor has or Ashley has. You have wronged a good man, and you simply do not have your facts right about Ashley Sheatz's willingness to testify publicly to the power of Christ over her sin. You have passed judgment on a sweet young couple without taking the time to back up your pronouncements with research. In sum, you need the same forgiveness we all do. You need the blood of Jesus to cover you. You do not need to be a slightly better person, or a more committed devotee of religion. You need to be born again, to trust Jesus as your Lord and Savior, and to repent of all your sin. You and I are no different; we are great sinners all, but Christ is a great Savior. May God work in your hearts to lead you to this place if he has not. Best, Owen Strachan

The Daily Wire hosts mock and make fun of @TrevorSheatz for his viral "My wife was formerly promiscuous. I was a virgin" tweet. All the while, they show they don't know anything about the situation, or the fact that his wife @AshleySheatz has been sharing her testimony for years- it's been pinned to her profile since 2019- as a testament to God's mercy and lovingkindness.

Seeing men criticized for marrying women with a past who’ve been redeemed by Christ kind of reminds me of Jonah: angry that God would show mercy to those he thought didn’t deserve it. In the same way, it holds up a mirror to our hearts, revealing how truly we understand and believe the gospel.

I’m a little confused on the whole “all women who aren’t virgins when they get married are prostitutes” dynamic coming from Christians. A prostitute is someone who sells her body for financial compensation. A woman who is unchaste before marriage is just a pagan. Both are redeemable, but one is very, very different than the other.

Y’all, I’ve followed Trevor and Ashley on Instagram for years. They’ve both been open about this. If you consider yourself a Christian, and you’re mocking her for who she used to be before becoming a believer, you need to get off social media, and get into the Word.
Trevor Sheatz@TrevorSheatz

My wife was formerly promiscuous. I was a virgin. She was then radically born-again. Committed to church, evangelized constantly, Puritan books in her bedroom, prayer journals, grief over past sexual sin, etc. We got to know each other well for over a year, dated for four months, engaged for two and a half, and didn't sin sexually with one another. Our first kiss with each other was at the altar on our wedding day (reaction pic attached!). We've been married for over five years now, and she's been the most wonderful and godly wife, mother to our three children, and homemaker you could imagine. She's more pure than most virgins, as biblical purity has less to with past sins (though they certainly matter) and more to do with one's current posture of the heart and daily decisions to honor the Lord (Matt. 5:8). We're far too quick to forget the story of the woman labeled as a known "sinner" (likely a prostitute) in Luke 7:36-50 who was washing Jesus' feet with her tears while kissing them too. The Pharisees were shocked that Jesus let a public sinner do this. Jesus responded with a parable about debts being forgiven and ended with this powerful conclusion: "Her many sins have been forgiven; that’s why she loved much. But the one who is forgiven little, loves little" (Luke 7:47). Everyone seems to highlight the benefits of virginity, and it certainly is a blessing. But we forget to highlight the benefits of being forgiven much as well. My wife knows the depths of Jesus' forgiveness more than most people, enabling her to more easily live out a life of passionate love for her Savior. A woman or man's past sexual sin matters. But what matters far more when it comes to deciding who to marry is if the person is truly born again, if their repentance is real, if they truly have a heart for Christ, if they truly follow Jesus and obey his commands. "God has chosen what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen what is weak in the world to shame the strong. God has chosen what is insignificant and despised in the world — what is viewed as nothing — to bring to nothing what is viewed as something, so that no one may boast in his presence. It is from him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became wisdom from God for us — our righteousness, sanctification, and redemption, — in order that, as it is written: 'Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.'" (1 Cor. 1:27-31) "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!" (2 Cor. 5:17)

We not only have a promiscuity problem among women but also a death problem. 70% of women who abort self-identify as Christian. 43% were attending church at least monthly when they killed their child. Yet whenever this sin is called out, blame instantly shifts to men. Every problem in society is apparently men’s fault, and women need to take no accountability. Having standards as a Christian man apparently makes you a misogynist, incel, or porn addict. This is messaging is indistinguishable from feminists. It’s a lose-lose for men. Women constantly blame men for failing to lead, but when men try to right the wrongs of women and correct course for our depraved society, they're lambasted as insecure women-haters. No wonder the red-pill and manosphere are exploding. Effeminate church leaders offer the same feminist script and have zero answers for disillusioned young men.

I'll put something out there: The old testament shows very little interest in the concept of male virginity whatsoever. It's notable that the scripture regarding a woman being put to death if she turns out to not be a virgin at marriage (Deuteronomy 22v13) is entirely gender asymmetric. There is simply no comparable sin leveled at a man. Why could this be? Well, it seems to me, this has at least something to do with understanding of reproductive biology. The Biblical understanding of reproduction is very much to that of a "seed" on "fertile soil". The woman's womb is the soil, the man provides the "seed". There was clearly an understanding that that the typical "planting" time from seed to fruition was around 9 months - that bit of biology was understood. However, it seems likely that is where the understanding comes to and end. It is not clear at all that the people of the old testament understood, for example, that if a woman slept with two men, the pregnancy that came forth would be 100% the genetic offspring of one or other of the men but not both. We are so used to this genetic truth, but remember no one saw a human sperm down a microscope until 1677. If one follows the seed in soil analogy, we know that, although if you plant a seed, you get a crop some months later, it's not quite that simple. You also get weeds. You sometimes get some seed which lies dormant and crops up in the field randomly in a different season. If you plant two seeds, you might get one, or both crops come through. The exact mechanics of all of this were something of a mystery to the ancients - and likewise with reproduction. We have heavily "spiritualised" the whole aspect of virginity, while, to the people of the old testament it was likely a fair more practical concern. The issue here is that *everything* was also expressed in a spiritual way, because there just wasn't any other distinction. This is why the priest was also the local dermatologist. I know of absolutely know Christian who thinks that Leviticus 13 v9-17 are the basis of modern medical dermatological diagnosis of whether a condition is contagious or not. We seem happy to accept that the bizarre description and management laid out here is a reflection of human limitations in understanding dermatology. But, we seem reluctant to accept that the Biblical obsession with virginity is likely, at least partly down to a limitation in their understanding of reproduction. Essentially, there seems to be an idea that the paternity of any child issuing forth from a non-virgin woman is somehow questionable. There is no understanding that a 9 month quarantine period without intercourse would render certainty with regards the paternity question. Rather, there is this idea that, once a woman is not a virgin, all offspring from her womb are tainted by the seed of all the men she has been with - like a field planted with multiple crops might throw up any one of them. Indeed, this ambiguity of paternity is actually exploited to an advantage in the concept of levirate marriage in Deuteronomy 25v5, Here, if a man dies and lives his wife childless, the brother of the dead man is obligated to marry the widow and sleep with her, and the implication is that somehow, by putting his seed into her, he will bring forth the seed of his dead brother - "the first son she bears shall carry on the name". None of this is to say that scripture doesn't have standards which are important regarding sex and marriage. But on the specific obsession over virginity: This seems to arise very much out of what was largely a practical consideration of paternity in biblical times. I'm not convinced it would have ever been a "thing" in quite the same way if DNA tests and a knowledge of genetic inheritance had existed back then, if I'm honest. Else why is the Biblical concern with virginity so blatantly gender asymmetric?

Virginity should not be the #1 factor Christians look for when considering who to marry. Godliness and being attracted to them is. Virginity matters, and it's a blessing from God. It's not wrong to desire someone who is a virgin. And past sexual sin regularly carries present-day consequences. But I fear we've placed virginity on such a high pedestal that it's become an idol for many. The Bible doesn't say that someone "is free to be married to anyone [they want] — only if they're a virgin." It says that someone "is free to be married to anyone [they want] — only in the Lord (aka, only if they're a Christian)" (1 Cor. 7:39). In other words, what matters above all else is that your spouse is a believer, virgin or not. Again, while desiring to marry a virgin isn't a bad thing, it becomes a bad thing if it causes you to miss out on marrying the person who truly matters: the man or woman who's born-again, passionate about Jesus, excellent in the God-given characteristics of a godly wife or husband, and physically attractive to you. And a mature Christian should desire those things in a potential spouse above all else, regardless of the past sins the person may have gone through (though they should certainly weigh out that aspect as well in this decision, since it does matter).

In a culture devoid of goodness and beauty, we don't need you to countersignal things of God by calling it "idolatry." A lot of “ex-slut” stuff just comes down to normal aging. Most people (both men and women) have higher libidos at 16 than they do at 26. Men will probably be a bit annoyed to hear this but it makes total biological sense that it’s easier to settle in your late 20s than in your late teens. And many men would also admit that at 16 they were down to fuck anything and in their late 20s that desire has waned somewhat. Very upsetting for some people that this is normal part of being human being
Ashley Sheatz@AshleySheatz

I have been saved for over 8 years, married almost 6 and have never had the temptation to be with other men sexually, for whatever that is worth. Believe it or not, God really is a big God who can remove struggles from your life.
