🇺🇸 Spirit Airlines is gone. Thousands of passengers are now stranded, and nobody has a clear answer on when or if they'll get their money back. This is the part the budget airline model never advertises. You save $40 on a ticket, then the airline folds overnight, now you're stuck at the airport with a worthless boarding pass and a refund timeline that could take months. Spirit was cheap, and the only option for a lot of people flying routes the big carriers ignore. The collapse also exposes something the industry doesn't talk about enough: there is almost no safety net for travelers when a low-cost carrier goes under. Refund protections are murky, rebooking rights are limited, so you're mostly on your own. Budget airlines have been running on fumes for years... Spirit won't be the last. Source: Reuters, NBC News

JUST IN: Spirit Airlines officially shuts down.
