I’m from Utah and agree that this particular data center is ridiculous, but also the people who say cow farts and cars are bad also really hate AI and data centers. It’s the companies and governments that want them. I’d be fine with a smaller one but my God, we do not need this much AI

TRENDING A Utah physics professor just compared the proposed Utah Stratos AI data center to the explosion of 23 atomic bombs a day. The numbers check out. - Stratos Campus: 16–17 GW thermal load/ 1,468 TJ/day released - Hiroshima = 63 TJ - That's 23.3 bombs/day of heat! So cow farts and your car are bad but toxic boiling cauldrons designed by mad scientist to run AI to make humanity obsolete are good…

I was an emergency C-section because my mother had been in labor for 36 hours and I was stuck. We both almost died. My heart rate was dangerously high and my mother’s blood pressure shot up even though she was mostly healthy through the pregnancy. Not overweight, no substances, just brutal morning sickness the whole 9 months. My little sister was a planned C-section because her OBGYN said she would probably have the same thing happen again. She had the same blood pressure spike at the end and the 9 months of morning sickness. When she went into labor they didn’t even wait and just did the C-section. My sister and I are fine. I’m a software engineer and she is a biochemist working in cancer research. My mom’s sister also had two emergency C-sections for similar reasons, though she came much closer to dying with her first and was in the hospital for like 3 weeks. I have never been pregnant (infertility, sadly), but if I do there’s a chance my doctor could recommend one based on my family history. I don’t get what’s so bad about it.

One sad thing I’ve noticed about c sections is how many women *want* to have them in order to completely avoid the pain of childbirth. They’re totally okay with them and don’t even try not to have one despite all the damage they cause to both the baby and the mother. But embracing suffering and pain as noble and worth it for the well being of your child is the hallmark initiation into the whole underlying psychology of motherhood, which is the vocation of a servant’s heart, selfless love. I know (trust me) that getting a c section is not easy but psychologically you do in fact skip the pain of childbirth. You don’t have to bear anything. Recovering from surgery with the dull pain of stitches and zonked out with drugs is nowhere near the same as consciously enduring the agony and intensity of the moment that no one can do for you. Natural birth prepares women to take agency not only over motherhood but womanhood. And a society in which women willingly offload all pain and responsibility to others in such a formative moment, explains so much about the spiritual state of the world.

@nikitabier @elonmusk I received a message from X early this morning saying I’m no longer eligible for monetization because I’m not subscribed to Premium. However, I prepaid for a full year of Premium in March through Google, and that subscription is active until March 2027. I did turn off auto-renewal because, when my current annual subscription expires, I plan to upgrade to Premium+ directly through X. But my current Premium membership is still active and fully paid through next March. This appears to be a bug in the system. I should not have been removed as a monetized account while my Premium membership is still active. I wanted to bring this to your attention in case it’s affecting other accounts as well.

On the left is David Reimer, and on the right is Brenda Reimer. They are the same person. As a child, he was the victim of a botched circumcision, and on the advice of a doctor, his family decided to have him castrated and raised as a girl. For years, doctors presented the case as proof that a child’s gender identity could be shaped by upbringing. But he never felt like a girl. He rejected dresses, hated being treated that way, and struggled deeply with the identity forced on him. At 14, his parents finally told him the truth. A year later, he chose to live as a boy again and took the name David. He later married and became a stepfather, but the trauma followed him for the rest of his life. In 2004, David Reimer died by suicide at 38.

@WestsideLAGuy Depends on which women are becoming judges. I know a few female legal professionals who would push for rapists and child abusers in particular to be sentenced to castration with a medieval torture device or something equally ruthless.

I am a millennial and I DoorDash too much now, but back when my husband and I were saving for our house, we’d bring chicken and vegetable stir fry to work every day except Fridays, which were team lunch days. We also made iced coffee at home and made things like tacos for dinner. We were able to save up enough for a 5% down payment and all of the closing costs and such for a small $250,000 house in 8 months, each making about $14 an hour. We did pay cheap rent back then in a relative’s basement, but our kitchen was a single plug in electric stove burner, a microwave, mini fridge, and a very tiny sink. We’re both software engineers now and very busy so we order a lot of food, but we still save and invest. We’re still in the same house. It’s pretty small. We’ve upgraded the furniture and done some renovating but when we started it was a fixer upper and all of our stuff was thrifted or hand-me-downs. It’s hard but it’s possible. It may take a little longer with higher house prices but look for first time buyer programs. You’ll probably be able to refinance and ditch the PMI after a couple of years if you play it smart.

So I guess the easiest way to piss off American zoomers is to tell them it’s cheaper to meal prep than eat at restaurants or order delivery. The amount of crashouts I’ve seen today is mind boggling and a little worrying. I hope young Americans aren’t this helpless IRL.

For a regular babysitting gig, I made $6 an hour, $2 per kid per hour. My first job that required me to sign paperwork was $7.25 at age 14 as a student janitor. My first job after high school was a cashier job that paid $8.50, and then my first job near my field was as a software QA engineer that built automated tests, and that one paid $13.50.

My first job paid me $6.25/hour. And I appreciated every cent I made. When I see the wages Target and Costco pays I smile. Gen Z has no idea how good they have it. What did you get paid at your first job?

Horrible Congressman Thomas Massie put out an old Endorsement, from many years ago, of him by me long before I found out that he was the Worst Congressman in the History of our Country. I endorsed Ed Gallrein, a true American Patriot, which Massie knows full well, so the statement that he put out is fraudulent, just like HE is fraudulent. WITHDRAW YOUR FAKE STATEMENT, MASSIE, RIGHT NOW! President DONALD J. TRUMP
