@Veschluckt Slavery is in the Bible, Torah and Qur'an as acceptable practice. So are many other reprehensible things and gross inequalities. Free and egalitarian societies that can adjust laws as things are learned and discovered provide many concrete benefits.

But he is making a valid point wouldn't you agree? "Thou shalt not murder" is the accurate translation of the 6th Commandment, not "Thou shalt not kill." The 6th Commandment (Exodus 20:13) in Hebrew reads לֹא תִּרְצָח (lo tirtzach), where ratsach (רָצַח) specifically refers to unlawful, premeditated, or malicious killing—i.e., murder, rather than all killing in general. This understanding makes a big difference when reading God's Word.
