@persconcerned Are ppl perfect? No. Christianity was contorted and used as an excuse for political gain. Do you blame the teacher who taught that 2+2=4, for the student who didn’t pay close enough attention and says 2+2=5? What Jesus taught is often not actually followed.
@persconcerned Not in the OT/NT. Not as you probably think it is. You are swimming in Christian waters. You owe your laws that provide equality, modern day science, human rights… to Jesus.

@Veschluckt Slavery is in the Bible, Torah and Qur'an as acceptable practice. So are many other reprehensible things and gross inequalities. Free and egalitarian societies that can adjust laws as things are learned and discovered provide many concrete benefits.
@persconcerned Science points to a mind outside our reality (info, math, laws…). And w/o a law giver outside of humanity, there is no such thing as objective good/evil. Only subjective human opinion. No way to prove your opinion on what is good, is right over what Jong Un thinks is right.
@Veschluckt@RobertPicardo Any deity who saved Jeffrey Dahmer, I would reject without the slightest hesitation. (In reality, for numerous reasons having to do with science and with the dominion of evil, greed and mediocrity, I don't believe there is any Abrahamic deity.)
@persconcerned@RobertPicardo Speaking out against injustice is right because we are all made in the image of God. We are free to reject that for ourselves, but God can reach the most lost person. God saved Paul, God saved Jeffrey Dahmer, he can save the worst of us.

@Veschluckt@RobertPicardo Also, I wanna say that I personally reject the "image bearer" theory. I believe there are many truly revolting humans. Predators. Huge crooks. Ppl who get a kick out of oppressing. What concerns me is protecting people from them and speaking out against them.
@persconcerned@RobertPicardo A lot of ppl don’t marry for love. Sometimes b/c marriages are arranged, sometimes out of necessity. Doesn’t mean love and affection can’t develop. Marrying for love is a luxury of the 1st world. She did not come from affluent upbringing in Communist Yugoslavia.
@Veschluckt@RobertPicardo Nude modeling; pursuing Trump because she longs for money and a meritless Einstein visa in exchange for physical attributes; no genuine love?
@Veschluckt@RobertPicardo Republicans often allege that no senior politician cares about ordinary people. This makes it easier for them to vote with someone with no conscience or morality other than kleptocracy and predation. Many Democrats do care. Warren. Lieu. Bernie. AOC. Jeffries.
@WilcoxNico66916 Show me. And even if she, at one point, sold herself for sex, it’s good to stop that abusive and dangerous way of living. Good on her.
@Mike_D85@persconcerned@RobertPicardo Do you have evidence? B/c I can’t find any. So err on the side of caution and respect. Even if true “Sex workers” are still image bearers and need rescuing from a dangerous and abusive life. They are often there b/c of abuse in childhood. And it’s good to leave that behind.
@Veschluckt@persconcerned@RobertPicardo What politics?she has never declared fealty on any topic/political stance. The fact remains he was commenting on what is known about her- a former sex worker who was employed and introduced by Epstein.
@persconcerned@RobertPicardo He didn’t write that. He’s calling her a wh@re. Why? Because he doesn’t like her politics? That’s not ok. No need to insult an image bearer. (I have no skin in the US’s dumb game of “me good, you bad”. NO ONE at the top, Dem, Rep, Lib, or Con cares about the ppl at the bottom.)
@Veschluckt@RobertPicardo There is no plank involved in wishing for civic integrity, intelligence and genuine commitment to positive values. But I hope kleptocracy walks the plank in the midterms and beyond so that some amount of decency can be restored to the White House.😊
But he is making a valid point wouldn't you agree?
"Thou shalt not murder" is the accurate translation of the 6th Commandment, not "Thou shalt not kill."
The 6th Commandment (Exodus 20:13) in Hebrew reads לֹא תִּרְצָח (lo tirtzach), where ratsach (רָצַח) specifically refers to unlawful, premeditated, or malicious killing—i.e., murder, rather than all killing in general.
This understanding makes a big difference when reading God's Word.
@christusdei@14764Sairose No, the commandment uses the verb ratsach (רָצַח). This word specifically translates to murder. The distinction is a killing that is not legal.
@4thOfJuly365 Have you not read the verse? It wasn’t instantaneous. “Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and ALL THAT NIGHT the LORD drove back the sea with a strong east wind that turned it into dry land. So the waters were divided…” Ex 14:21
