You'll find that my posts are pretty eclectic in subject matter, but sometimes I go through phases where I mostly post about one thing.

@MythicMgames You've inspired me to reinstall. I hadn't played KCD since March of 2018, more than eight years. Now that I'm playing it again, it feels... well, so far it's been extremely refreshing. I'm taking a shot without any mods this time around. Maybe I'll be better at the combat too.

@MythicMgames I wouldn't compare Morrowind's constant need for RNGesus with KCD's combat. Even after 51 hours of KCD, I still felt like I was horrible at the combat. It clicks with some people and they can win every fight with two swings, but... no click for me.

@MythicMgames Personally, I get anxious when I can't save at any time. What many call "save scumming" I call potentially "making a game playable."

@MythicMgames I was never able to master the combat in that game enough to feel like I had any skill. I wanted to love that game, but if a toddler with a stick decided to kill me, I was defenseless. It was... very off-putting.

As a middle-aged Orthodox Christian, virtually no story deeply resonates with me anymore, or gets even close. But I still glean what I can from stories, because I don't know how else to live. This is my wasteland, the only land I've ever known. I sometimes see white shores and vibrant, green tree-lines in the distance, but only rarely do they seem close. Now and then I catch a pure, sweet scent on the wind and it invigorates my soul. But here I am, walking the desolate horizon, usually scratching my next meal off a rock. Some rocks are better than others, though. They gather thicker or tastier moss. I'm going to go play some Final Fantasy 14.

I want to like WoW, but I just don't think I can do it. I was there at the beginning, but I can't overcome feeling like this franchise isn't for me anymore. On a cultural level, it feels like "progressive" fantasy cosplay rather than truly enchanting high fantasy.

As someone who worked at Reality Labs: the Metaverse had real legs but was obliterated by middle management completely out of touch with how young people actually use technology. I built a V1 tool that game developers genuinely needed, and the moment it was done, it got shipped to a team in London (to die), and I was reassigned to a "higher-priority project" that zero developers asked for. Multiply that by every team, and you'll understand why this never took off yet cost 80 billion.

JUST IN: Meta announces they'll be shutting down the Metaverse, after pouring $80,000,000,000.00 into the project.

@MythicMgames It was once Skyrim, but then became Starfield. But all the core Elder Scrolls games are a blast. (Never liked Fallout.)

@VespinFeebler I tried to sign up for TikTok to check out some content someone had suggested. I was instantly permabanned without the ability to appeal. I still have no idea what I did. I signed up, set the app to dark mode, and then wham, banned for no reason.

These days, whenever a Kickstarter for something is announced, my first thought is, "Well crud, it's going to be at LEAST a year before that ever makes it into my hands -- probably longer, if ever." And then I want nothing to do with it.

@Nobleshield I have 2 games per week, one Roll20 the other at my game table. But often one or another gets skipped in any given week due to life reasons.

I see posts from people who play in multiple games at the same time. Where do you find the time? No other hobbies? Independently wealthy? Lol

When you're in emotional and/or physical pain, the last thing you want to hear in response to your cries for help is, "God loves you, specifically you, more than you could imagine, and offers you everything in Jesus Christ." It could potentially be an insensitive thing to say, but it's true. It's a true statement. This life is very short, and eternity is forever. What we suffer now is nothing compared to the joy and glory we get if we stick it out with Christ. Even so, yeah, when we're in pain, we just want it to stop. We want to lash out, blame God. But so much of the Christian walk is just learning to hold onto the fact that God is good, and that he loves us, and that if we stick it out with him, he'll make sure that not one drop of our pain was meaningless. It will all have earned us a reward of some kind, something amazing and eternal. Scripture refers to these different rewards as "crowns". But have to hold on. We have to hold onto Christ. If you're going through hell, then keep going, and despair not. #Orthodox

Its world, main story, and characters grow on you over time. I actually walked away many years ago right before Stormblood released, as I figured if I didn't tear myself away early, I'd be keeping up with it the rest of its existence for decades to come. Well... a few years ago I came back, suffering from a dearth of modern games I wanted to play. I'll be honest: it's a LOT to come into at level 1 at this point. The base game is about 100 hours, and every expansion is basically a full-sized FF game, and there's a quarter-to-half of a FF game between every expansion. It's a soap opera emotional roller coaster with the best storytelling in MMOs. There are whole official, hardcover "encyclopedias" that contain information on its world(s), main story, and characters. The blasted story made me cry at one point. If you do ever try the game, I'm on Primal->Lamia, character "Vespin Feebler".
