As a veteran, I’ve seen how disinformation can cloud the truth. This account is dedicated to cutting through the spin.

@Jon_173d @WhiteHouse @SecWar Valid point — I'm hoping it's scoped to actual federal activation. If it is, it's overdue. If it's broader than that, you've got a legitimate cost argument worth having. I'm watching the implementation details before calling it a full win. 🇺🇸

@VetFacts @WhiteHouse @SecWar Why should guard and reserve guys get tricare or bah when they’re not on orders? That’s the point of NG/reserve troops. Less expense but still have them when you need them. If they want full time benefits go AD.

President Trump and @SecWar have announced FULL benefits for national guard troops, equivalent to those of other active service members. No one stands with our troops like the Trump administration 👏🇺🇸

@mcc2224 @RapidResponse47 @SecWar Exactly — and that's the point. If it's a "got you" for the SecDef, then the SecDef created a legal exposure problem with his own words. The troops know the UCMJ. The question is whether their civilian leadership does. That's not pearl clutching. That's accountability. 🇺🇸

This isn't about dance contests or pearl clutching. It's about the Uniform Code of Military Justice. When a SecDef uses "no quarter" language publicly, it creates a legal exposure problem for the troops carrying out orders — not the civilian giving speeches. A corporal who follows that order literally faces a court martial. The general who gave the speech faces a press conference. That's not idealism. That's the documented history of how war crimes prosecutions work. The soldiers bear the consequences. That's what I'm concerned about. 🇺🇸

@VetFacts @RapidResponse47 @SecWar Am I missing something here, we must go to war and take prisoners, while the enemies will take “no quarter”? Are you listening to yourself? By the very definition of enemies in a war situation, means a fight to the end. You think this is a dance contest?

The issue isn't 'pearl clutching'; it's the legal trap this rhetoric sets for our troops. Since the March 13th briefing, 'no quarter' has moved from a soundbite to a potential UCMJ nightmare. If a corporal takes that 'no mercy' line literally and follows an order to take no prisoners, they—not the SecDef—face life in Leavenworth for a 'manifestly unlawful' act. We’ve already seen the strategic fallout from the Minab school strike; loose ROE don't just kill enemies, they create the very 'dangerous situations' you’re worried about by giving the adversary a permanent propaganda win. We win by being more disciplined than the enemy, not by adopting their logic.

@VetFacts @RapidResponse47 @SecWar How do you think we got to this dangerous situation? I believe the enemies followed the “By any means necessary” rule, and now’s not the time for “pearl clutching.”

Haha, fair point. I’ve spent years in IT since leaving the military, including years as a DoD contractor, so my brain just defaults to 'technical documentation' mode sometimes. Definitely a human back here. I haven't been active duty for a while, but I'm still in the VA system and have spent years talking to Guard and Reserve folks during my time as a contractor. The "none of that when deployed" point you made is actually the exact frustration I've heard from guys on the ground for years. The White House announcement is supposedly aimed at closing these specific gaps that Guard members face even when they are under active-duty conditions: it’s supposed to fix things like the TRICARE coverage gaps between deployments, make sure every day of federal service counts toward the GI Bill, and finally get some parity on VA loan eligibility and retirement credits. They’re even pushing to simplify those 30+ duty statuses so "status-hopping" stops messing with your BAH and medical coverage. I’m just hoping it actually moves the needle for the guys still in.

Good question — documented gaps for deployed Guard members compared to active duty: TRICARE health coverage — Guard members lost coverage between deployments Retirement benefits — active duty service counted differently than Guard service VA home loan eligibility — required longer active duty service periods GI Bill access — more restricted for Guard than active duty Death and disability benefits — differential treatment documented in multiple GAO reports These gaps were the subject of congressional hearings throughout the Iraq and Afghanistan era. Veterans organizations have been pushing for parity for two decades. If this announcement closes those gaps permanently — that's the right call and it's overdue. I'll follow the implementation. 🇺🇸

For the record on the Iran negotiations: Trump's official post: "Very good and productive conversations... complete and total resolution of hostilities." Iran Military Media's official response — public, on record, today: "Are you negotiating with us? But your deadline threat was 24 hours ago." Cross-reference: Former NCTC Director Kent: war justification was "fraud" Pentagon told Congress: no imminent threat documented No Congressional authorization Trump this morning: deal could be as good as "annihilating the place" Trump this afternoon: productive conversations, strikes postponed 5 days No formal ceasefire. No Congressional notification. Both sides publicly contradicting each other's account of the talks. The War Powers Resolution still applies. For context on @LeaderJohnThune’s spine: Sunday — Thune brought a proposal to the President to fund DHS and end the airport crisis. Trump rejected it. — NBC News, 3/23/26 Today — Senator John Kennedy, on Fox News, on camera: “The Democrats offered a deal… we said accept it… Trump said no.” The President is now demanding the Senate hold firm against a deal — after rejecting two proposals to end a shutdown that has TSA officers unpaid and airports at 270-minute waits. The spine question is documented. So is the rejection. 🇺🇸

Donald Trump is tying himself in a triple knot. 1. Refusing to fund TSA and causing chaos at our airports 2. Starting a reckless war of choice in Iran 3. Pushing a voter suppression bill to disenfranchise over 20 million American citizens And each day he ties the knot tighter.
