India’s former PM, Dr. Manmohan Singh passed away. In 1992, he was appointed as a Finance Minister, when there was tremendous economic instability and we were on the brink of a financial crisis. India was reeling under the economic constraints and shackles of the previous Congress government. Dr. Manmohan Singh took it up on himself to to break these shackles, with the support of the then PM, Narasimharao. In 1992, during his parliament speech he said,” no power on earth can stop an idea whose time has come”. The true architect of this era is Dr. Manmohan Singh. Later, he became the Prime Minister of India and that too for 10 years. When you are in that position with tremendous pressures, it’s possible that when along with good decisions, there are possibilities of mistakes as well. Unfortunately, he had to face a lot of flak and criticism during his tenure. During one of his press conferences, he mentioned, “ I do not believe that I have been a weak Prime Minister. I honestly believe that history will be kinder to me than the contemporary media or for that the matter the opposition in Parliament…” Dr Manmohan Singh stands tall as an exceptional economist in the world. His expertise has been applauded around the world leaders and universities.
