Whisper vs. Parakeet: Which voice transcription would you use? vibesonic.ai/learn/beyond-w… Choose Whisper if you need a “Generalist.” For rare languages or simultaneous translation, Whisper is still a great choice. Choose Parakeet if you need a “Production Powerhouse.” For high-volume English or European work, or real-time local apps, Parakeet is the undisputed king. #ai

This is why I chose to include Parakeet local model in VibeSonic Pro. The speed on Apple Silicon is incredible — real-time transcription that actually keeps up with natural speech. And it runs fully on-device, no cloud needed ⚡️
Andi Marafioti@andimarafioti

Nvidia's Parakeet transcribes 6 seconds of audio in 83ms on a M3 MacBook Pro, 26x faster than lightning whisper! Local real-time voice AI is here! Try it now: github.com/huggingface/sp…

@nikitabier Local-first is the only way to do this right. 🛡️ If you're building a video assistant, having the transcription and search happen directly on the user's hardware isn't just a privacy feature, it's a massive performance win (zero upload lag). That's the core philosophy behind VibeSonic.

@nikitabier The best AI video assistants are all speech to text based - labelling, searchable transcripts, captions - and relies on models like Whisper. That is useful but has hard limitations in terms of serving as a driving force behind an edit.

I wanted to build a video editor into X like other social apps. I had expected it to take 3 months of engineering time. Today I decided to try prototyping it myself. I one-shotted a full in-browser editor in 15 minutes. It felt like I could replace the entire Adobe software suite by Sunday. Then I asked myself: will videos even be edited manually in 3 months? Chatbots can do reasonably well now. Product development is getting extraordinarily difficult when the world is changing so fast.

@ChristosArgyrop @DrRyanPDaly Try this, dictate a fictitious AI scribe. Use Whisper AI locally to transcribe the audio file, then feed that transcript into a LLM like Claude, build a simple prompt describing your role and expectations, and see what AI can “chart” today. It’s wild.

I think the issue is a lot of labor is just pattern recognition. Agreed that true self-learning AGI APPEARS way off. It can not dream, feel, hope, smell, taste and touch. Michelin meals will happen far before it replaces physicians. Hopefully that give us time to adapt to the disruption. Not like putting an anaconda in the everglades. There need to be guard-rails. The first application of new tech always seems to be directed toward accumulating of power or harm.
sphinx@protosphinx

AGI is not coming. We are nowhere near AGI. What we have today is inference, not learning. Models get trained once on huge fixed datasets, then frozen. You ask questions, they remix patterns they already saw. Nothing updates. Nothing sticks. Talking to the model does not make it smarter. It does not learn from you. Ever. Learning is still slow, expensive - and offline. Look at self driving. You drive around a pothole, make a U turn, and come back. The car’s AI does not learn that you just solved that exact problem. It reacts the same way every time using sensors and rules. Do this 20 times a day and it still has zero memory that the pothole exists. It just re sees it. That is why edge cases never die. There is no local learning. No accumulation. No 'oh yeah, I’ve seen this before' LLMs work the same way. Tell it your name and it does not remember. The only reason it looks like memory is because scaffolding keeps shoving your name back into the prompt every time and sanitizing the output. The model itself has no idea who you are and cannot learn from interaction. It is structurally incapable. And the scaffolding is the worst part. It is pure duct tape. Just prompts on prompts on prompts around a frozen model. When something breaks, nobody fixes learning. They add another layer. Another rule. Another retry. Another evaluator model judging the first model. So you end up with systems that are insanely complex but mentally shallow. Debugging is hell because behavior comes from hack interactions, not a learnable core. Tiny prompt tweaks cause wild behavior shifts. Latency goes up. Costs go up. Reliability goes down. None of this compounds into intelligence. It just hides the cracks. Until we have real persistent learning and real memory inside the system, there is no AGI. LLMs are not built for this. You cannot prompt your way out of it. You need a totally different architecture. Yann LeCun is right. And even then, what architecture can actually learn online, store memory, and stay stable on today’s hardware? Best case, maybe 5-10 yrs. Right now it is all inference. It looks magical, but the emperor has no clothes. A lot of people see it. Almost nobody says it out loud.

Hey @WisprFlow, love the product but there's a UX issue that's driving me crazy 😅 The widget pops up whenever I hover near certain buttons on websites, then covers the exact button I'm trying to click. Makes navigation really frustrating. Could you add a hover delay or adjust the trigger zone? 🙏

@WisprFlow What's going on with Wispr Flow today? The app is moving very slow. Is it me or the app? It's been happening on my mobile and desktop for several hours. These are the messages I get: Taking longer than usual Flow was still processing your last transcript

Most voice models are great at cloning voices, but they still manage to erase the person. I have an accent. Voice models don't know how to preserve it. Whenever I clone my voice, models get the words right, but mess up the rhythm badly. They flatten my vowels, and everything drifts toward a generic American accent. I'm attaching one example from Mirage. This is the first model I have heard of that can reproduce access as-is. • My accent stays intact, even when speaking English and Spanish • My pacing and cadence feel intentional, not averaged • The expressivity of my voice comes through Best part: Mirage only needs a short sample of your voice to clone it. I think this solves the hard part of voice cloning: intelligibility is easy, but identity is what makes a huge difference. Listen to the attached sample, and you'll notice the difference if you compare it with any other model out there. If you want to try this out, check out this link: captions.onelink.me/Rxcp/zugcla2x Thanks to the Mirage team for collaborating with me on this post.

"If I could summarize what I've learned about Claude Code, it's text files all the way down." Here's my new episode with @talraviv and @amankhan where we demoed 5 real AI workflows that we actually use, including: ✅ Writing strategy docs with Projects ✅ Prototyping features with Google AI Studio ✅ Creating a Kanban task board with Cursor ✅ Building a personal OS with Claude Code Some quotes from our episode: "By the time the Figma mocks were ready, I already tested the prototype with real users and got feedback." "When I use my personal OS, it sometimes says 'Hey, it looks like you're drifting. Are these projects really aligned with your goals?'" "We're all building our own personal AI where we're both the user and the PM. That in itself is an incredible source of learning." 📌 Watch now: youtu.be/VXdrfvqiH-0
