I’m glad to see other Democrats reiterating what I’ve been saying all along: the DSA are not Democrats. They’re socialists, who want to hijack the Democratic Party.
The Democrats have a big tent. That’s our strength. We embrace a range of ideas — but there’s no room for anti-American bomb-throwers who oppose our ideas, values, & leaders.

I'm tired of being told that, to be a progressive, I now must swear allegiance to crazy ideas. I'm a strong Democrat, with a winning bipartisan track record. I'm rooted in progressive ideals and policies: criminal justice reform, Green New Deal, Medicare for All, free education, clean air and water. These are ideas I have fought for my entire adult life. But some people in groups like the DSA are pushing an agenda FAR outside those ideals. Supporting Hamas is not progressive. "No police, no prisons, no borders" is not progressive. Celebrating the murder of Israeli civilians is not progressive. These ideas are REGRESSIVE. If there were no police or prisons, if anyone in your neighborhood could do whatever they wanted, while politicians cheered on terror groups — would that represent PROGRESS to you? No, that would be a step back. Those are REGRESSIVE ideas. On the other hand, if everybody could see a doctor when they got sick, get a good, free education and breathe clean air — would that represent progress? Yes. Those are PROGRESSIVE ideas. They are NOT the same thing. And the difference matters. Some defend the far left by claiming they only want Nordic-style social democracy. If that were true, I might applaud them. I want those policies, too! But what does universal healthcare have to do with Hamas? With abolishing all law enforcement? With erasing all borders? With treating every wealthy person as a villain? Ideas matter. And these are terrible ideas. Right now, extremists are trying to sneak backwards proposals into our party, hoping mainstream Democrats are too frustrated with MAGA and the Democratic Party establishment to notice. But we see you. Yes, we want our Democratic Party to be a big tent. But we don’t need "party poopers. So STOP pooping in the punch bowl — and telling us the turds are ice cubes. They aren't. And we are smart enough to know the difference. 💩

The incident at 235 East 42nd street was preventable. @local79nyc was out all summer last year protesting the site because of it and nobody listened. Now here we are. No surprise. And the current MTN BP Holyman and @shirley4council wouldn’t make things better. They are worse.

I know supporters of Ukraine will cheer this on, but these kinds of hits will no more knock Russia out of the war than the past three years of Russian strikes throughout Ukraine have not knocked them out of the war.
HOWEVER…
These big public strikes on important centers are more likely to spur Russia to EXPAND its war against Ukraine rather than cause them to contract. Thus, the perverse likely outcome: *successful* Ukrainian strikes into the heart of Russia will push Putin to hit Ukraine even harder, killing more UAF soldiers and destroying more of the country.
What these strikes WON’T do is help Ukraine win the war.

He doesn’t understand that the MTA is privately owned by a billionaire who obviously works with the city to collect revenue from hardworking taxpayers & the fare keeps on raising, along with cost of living, but salaries stay the same. Even with a minimum wage raise to $20 p/h, so many taxes are removed from NY middle & lower-class workers’ paychecks that it barely makes a difference (my boyfriend works in NYC & I’ve seen his paystubs. Smh).
One great way to lower taxes for NY’ers would be to allow ICE to do its job.
Having a car in NYC is even worse because insurance cost is sky-high, gas isn’t cheap & tolls (including the new midtown toll) have ridiculous fares, which is why many drivers use ghost plates (for which the NYPD has begun cracking down on their search).
NYC is ALL ABOUT revenue—all the NYPD mostly does is go around collecting it instead of actually protecting & serving. You won’t see cops ON the subways, where they technically SHOULD be; you’ll always find them loafing around the turnstiles.
Jumping the turnstiles has been a right of passage for many NY’ers & much of the time it’s the only way broke people can get to work. My boyfriend might have been fired on a few occasions if he hadn’t jumped the turnstiles.
This guy is putting himself at risk by doing this—shit can get violent underground.

When the roads were fine, they restarted ASP, and a plow would push the snow in parking spaces into the street, throw salt and another would follow and throw it back towards the curb.
