The crisis he’s managing looks suspiciously well-funded. Nehru led a poor, newly independent nation; no forex, no reserves, fresh wounds of partition; and still gave before he asked. Modi leads one of the fastest growing economies, sits on $691B reserves, and asks a bride to skip her wedding jewellery. One was a statesman. The other is a showman. The difference isn’t policy.
