But I’m exhausted of the Black community (and media) turning him into some kind of saint or role model. He wasn’t. Floyd had a long rap sheet with multiple convictions: • Drug dealing & possession (cocaine, crack cocaine) • Theft • Trespass • And most seriously, the 2007 aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon: He and five others invaded a woman’s home (impersonating water department workers), held a pistol to her stomach while her children were present, and ransacked the place. He pled guilty and served years in prison. His death was wrong, but idolizing a career criminal as a hero does nothing to help the Black community. We need to stop glorifying people who lived violently and illegally. Real change comes from accountability, strong families, and rejecting thug culture — not martyring flawed men with violent histories. Enough.
