At times, the most tragic things can also be tremendously uniting. People that were divided can suddenly find common ground and common purpose. I've seen wonderful humanity and compassion from Bitcoiners across the spectrum and a dramatic reduction in toxicity, mocking, sarcasm, etc. The suffering of those who have lost their Bitcoin and lost their hope cannot be denied, but holistically we have an opportunity to be stronger, more cooperative, and more understanding.

I feel absolutely terrible for people who have been losing a substantial amount of their wealth secured in the cold card.
The community needs to come together and hardware Wallet companies need to do better!

The thing that makes me so angry is that this didn’t have to happen. There were so many warning signs. But too many people chose tribalism, sponsorship and purity. First of all Coinkite only had a handful of employees, they never employed a full dev team. Instead they were run primarily by an ego maniac who not only refused to cooperate with the larger community but was outright hostile to anyone that didn’t fawn over him. Coinkite was not ISO certified, they held NO standard formal security certifications. Instead demanding that every single user should “don’t trust, verify.” Verification is the very reason tech companies hold certifications. They did no third party audits. This is the part that makes me sick to my stomach that anyone was ever recommending them. And they had no bug bounty program. If you know anything about software, anything at all, those are three HUGE red flags. Furthermore NVK himself aggressively went after his competition. He registered a long list of domains and squatted on them so Seedsigner couldn’t use them. See @sesi_the_man He pivoted his “open source code” to new licensing that is "source available" instead of FOSS. See @zherbert It seems the bitcoin community wrote this all off because… those products made themselves available for other use cases? Even if Coldcard had been secure, it should have never been pushed onto normies with limited technical abilities. “Anyone can roll dice.” Sure. But should someone who has never even heard the word entropy be required to securely create their own? Absolutely fucking not. There are way too many things that can go wrong. And clearly, a lot has gone wrong. Do better. Godspeed.

I woke up to see the controversy and realized my Bitcoin might be gone this morning.
That sinking gut feeling.
Some plebs lost ALL their Bitcoin.

I feel the same about Coldcard now.

@BornTo_BeFree I've been a long time @Trezor user and love their devices and interface. I've not purchased the Passport Prime yet, but plan to. I only had one CC and moved my funds off of it this morning. I've always though CC were clunky compared to others.

I’m quite a bit weaker than I was before the hospital, but I’m getting stronger every day. After something like that, it makes being grateful easy.
God is good. It’s been a rough couple of months, but without trials life would be boring. And for me, if I never had trials I would be inclined to become arrogant and think I could do it all without God.

Bitcoin price hitting 21 month lows puts strain on the miners out there, however mining ⛏️ is about the most efficient, lowest cost possible to have the highest likelihood of long term stability.
Efficiency, uptime and solid all in cost control to be as predictable as possible maintains folks.

I sold all my Bitcoin.
I am putting it all into physical nickels.
Yes, you read that correctly.
Here is the math: A nickel is worth 5 cents forever (legal tender). But the metal inside (copper/nickel) is worth 6.2 cents right now.
I am buying money for a 20%+ discount.
If copper price crashes, I still have 5 cents. If copper moons, I have a fortune.
People can laugh now but they won’t laugh for long. The downside is zero.
