One change that had a dramatic impact on my trading was changing the way I scanned the market. Instead of screening for setups each day, I screened for strength (52 week highs, doublers over 52 weeks, volume & price pops). These stocks create my universe list that I review each day for setups, in the stocks/groups that are the strongest. No longer trade C+ stocks with quality setups, but instead stay patient for the A+ stocks setup.

Being up 300% in a year doesn't earn you special status -- not to the person who matters most. Jim Roppel bragged to Bill O'Neill at the Ronald Reagan Library. O'Neill's reply: "We all put our pants on one leg at a time." One sentence. Permanent recalibration. Humility outlasts every hot streak.

@NickDrendel Awesome! Really trying to learn and truly appreciate the help. I want to sign up for Market Pulse. Looks like the discount code "DVNICK12" from that YT video isn't active anymore. Is there a newer one available 🙏

@VinRips I think there were plenty of breakout entires in April, and a few pullback ones at the end. Hopefully more pullback buys in May.

@NickDrendel Thanks Nick! Just watched this and got a lot out of it. How would you say things differ when we've had months like April in our rearview? Seems like entries are not as obvious in bull runs.

@VinRips Most of my entry tactics are on weakness. Support gap U&Rs, oops reversals, VWAP recoveries, etc. I go over them in this video. youtu.be/xYLU6Ep2U1M

"I look for stocks up at least 10% on high volume. 99% of the stocks that come up in this type of screen will not be [Episodic Pivots], either because they don’t have news or because they are just not the right type of stock" -@Qullamaggie Market Wizards, The Next Generation

My guest today is Paul Tudor Jones (@ptj_official), one of the greatest macro traders of all time. He correctly predicted the 1987 stock market crash and shorted the Japanese bubble in 1990. For over 40 years, his flagship fund has had a negative correlation to the S&P 500. 100% of his returns are alpha. He says today's market has so many similarities to 2000, "the easiest bear market I've ever seen in my whole life." He makes the case for going long dollar-yen, why Bitcoin beats gold as an inflation hedge, and why he was wrong about Warren Buffett. But what I'll remember most from this conversation is Paul's zest for life. He's 71 and still wakes at 2:30 every morning to trade the London open. He works out for two hours a day. He walks with his wife every evening. He travels the country chasing peak spring and peak fall. He's so excited about the songs picked for his funeral that he wishes he could be there to hear them. Paul has lived five lifetimes in one. He's one of the most entertaining and interesting people I've met, and the conversation will leave you searching to be as passionate about what you do as he is about what he does. Enjoy! @VinRips Personally I like buying pullbacks better than breakouts, so if that interests you I made a video on the 4 setups I trade the most - youtu.be/xYLU6Ep2U1M

The optimal position size is one where you can manage the trade properly. Too much size and you're more likely to make decisions outside of your system. Too little size and the results don't impact your account.

@NickDrendel Any setups you recommend for a newbie swing trader? Been day trading for a few months, but trying to learn swing. Just can't seem to pull the trigger and take my first swing trade. Been watching a lot of your content. Appreciate your advice

@VinRips Once you have a setup that you feel confident in, have traded multiple times, and learn the pros/cons of it then you can start inching size up. Size without a true edge is just a larger loss. You're doing the right thing by starting small.

Patience and discipline are more important than enthusiasm. I'm one month into trading. I can already see my enthusiasm to build this skill is actively working against me. I'm limiting myself to five trades per day until the end of April.

Newer to trading. I have some hotkeys set up for $100, $200, and $500. I plan to scale these up as I learn more and develop a strategy that works for me. Is that the best way to approach it? Dollar amounts? Or should I stick to share sizes or % of my account?
