£171m compensation for #equitablelife victims is set to be pocketed by the Treasury (as of May 2025). We've calculated this from FOIs responses, parliamentary answers and other govt documents. The Treasury is refusing to confirm or deny our figures - we wonder why? This must not be allowed to happen. All the the money allocated for compensation back in 2010 - which govt accepted for 895,000 people was 78% less than it should have been - must reach those who lost out from the accepted #maladministration.

It is 25 years to the day since #equitablelife closed to new business, throwing over a million people’s retirement plans into the air. It took victims 4 years to get a proper investigation into what went wrong. It took them another 4 years to get the answer – Equitable Life collapsed because of a catastrophic failure of regulation spanning a decade. Only 10 years after the collapse did the Government take responsibility for the failure and accept how much people lost as a result. Hundreds of thousands of victims are still owed 78% of what the Government itself calculated they that they lost. And to rub salt into the wound, of the limited compensation that was announced, over 10% is set to be pocketed by the Treasury. Shamefully, tens of thousands have died without justice or the retirement they worked so hard for and saved for responsibly. We will not stop until the government does the right thing and pays up. #equitablelife #maladministration #justice #fairness

Shameless hypocrisy A wk ago, Samir Zitouni, would have been one of those brown faces that have erased “our culture,”whose loyalty to this country is questionable. An Algerian immigrant working in a rail industry that is overstaffed Zitouni is the Best of British, Jenrick the …

It's now been five days since I broke the news that Nigel Farage is not declaring his income to Parliament. The Observer ran a piece on Saturday saying the same thing. Have any other single news broadcasters run with this? Nope. Any news on the Russian spy at Reform? Nope.
Don McGowan@donmcgowan

I wrote this yesterday in response to Zia Yusuf's lie that Farage was having to pay a million pounds for private security. Why has Nigel Farage not entered a single pound in declared interests since May? Today, I've gone through Nigel Farage's officially declared Register of Interests on the @UKParliament website. In the last three months, we are being led to believe that Nigel Farage has ceased all outside earnings and donations. Of course, this is not true. He is absolutely raking it in from multiple sources but, it seems, has just given up on reporting this income. At the very least, we should be seeing his GB News salary and his social media income, but nope, nothing. We know he travelled to Washington to appear at the House Judiciary Committee. Did he pay for that himself? Highly unlikely. Something very strange is happening here. An elected MP with some serious questions over his finances, is, it appears, trying to hoodwink UK voters. The Register is updated fortnightly, and MPs must register new additions or changes within 28 days of that occurrence. At the very least, Farage has missed two months worth of declarations. Averaging out the previous 10 months and if we're being kind to say it's only two months missing, that works out at £177,690.78 undeclared income. Not a paltry sum to have 'mislaid'. As a rule, an MP should be made to correct the register and make an apology if they are found to be in breach. Boris Johnson was a prime culprit for this and even had to attend remedial training as a punishment. Look at my spreadsheet below, and you can see that there are big bunches of declarations in April but then, aside from one GB News payment, everything stops. One image is a wide view of all of his interests, and the second is a closer look at where the payments halt. What is going on here @ElectoralCommUK? Why is this being allowed to run unchecked? Is there an investigation that we're not party to? Or is Farage really actually above the law? It's bizarre and has the very distinct whiff of … well, you can decide what I was going to write there — I don't want to get sued! As I wrote yesterday — Farage is not declaring his income. Please feel free to tag anyone you think may be interested below.

It's front page news all over the world, except Britain. Why is that? Great Britain is being attacked by hostile foreign powers - Nathan Gill is the idiot tool of the invaders. I simply do not understand why there is not a serious criminal investigation into Reform Ltd.

Funny, isn’t it? It’s a HUGE story. Concrete proof of Russian penetration of an influential right wing European party with the obvious aim of destabilisation. It ought to be making banner headlines. It ought to lead to a thorough & extensive criminal investigation with raids, seizures & bank account freezes. But for some reason, that’s not happening.

Last day of Labour conference where EMAG has been out in force. The Prime Minister was right to talk about the important principle of tackling state injustices in his speech yesterday. But a principle selectively applied isn’t one at all. #equitablelife victims - workers who saved responsibly for their old age - need and deserve the compensation they’re still owed now. #lab25 #settlethedebt #maladministration

Ed Davey, "I'm afraid Nigel Farage should be apologising for helping cause this problem in the first place" "Before Brexit we didn't have a small boats problem because we had 27 return agreements with European Union countries and we could return people" "But that's to Nigel Farage, Boris Johnson and the Conservatives, we tore up those agreements when we left the European Union, and now we have this problem" "I hope when he's on your program you'll ask him to apologise" "What Nigel Farage and Boris Johnson did is have a magnet of people, more and more people coming to the UK, because we can't return them" "So again I ask you please, that Nigel Farage is exposed for his failures and contributions to the small boats crisis" - Maybe we should call them Farage's Brexit Boats

There's much gaslighting going on right now- the idea that political violence or demonisation in politics is the preserve of one side, or is unique to the liberal left. All the evidence says otherwise- it is dangerous nonsense. I went on @PiersUncensored last night to say why.

Seeing a great deal of what Boris Johnson has suggested in my timeline, the idea that Kirk represented mainstream opinion/common sense. His murder is appalling. But this is nonsense. Some of his views -Profoundly conservative on gay rights. Didn’t believe in gay marriage. Said being gay was an “error” and compared to drug addiction. - didn’t believe in abortion in almost any circumstances. -called for a ban on all trans gender affirming care. -he spread falsehoods about voter fraud, Covid and other conspiracy theories. -suggested he opposed birth control and had very traditional views on women and how they should live their lives. -claimed the Great Replacement Theory was UK government policy. None of this could ever justify any violence. It is a matter of fact that his views were nowhere near mainstream. He clearly relished debate and was very influential. But in some cases, in many cases, his views were extreme.

Hard to disagree. Something has gone badly wrong with the BBC’s coverage of Reform. Farage promised to leave the country if Brexit, his single “achievement”, was a failure. He should be challenged on it in every interview.
Ed Davey@EdwardJDavey

The BBC are constantly fawning over Farage's every move despite Reform only having four MPs. Our national broadcaster should reflect the whole country, not just one man’s ego.

1. Hey, ECHR Haters. Do you know what an Osman Warning is? It is when the police are obliged by law to warn you if they believe there is a genuine, credible threat against your life. You know where it comes from? Article 2 ECHR.

As we watch Keir Starmer and his team expand NHS privatisation, please remember that he was elected to become Labour leader saying specifically that he would remove NHS private outsourcing. He then quietly dropped this pledge in Summer 2022. This isn’t OK 🚨

🙄 The media and political debate has been about nothing BUT “mass immigration” for the last 10 years! If the media and politicians could actually have an HONEST conversation about immigration that would be amazing But that’s not what she means, is it? 1/6
