I hate this argument. The sinners prayer is an easy and accessible way for people to be saved and to receive the Holy Spirit to be sanctified while making Jesus Lord. "It isn't in the Bible" is a stupid argument when every concept its built on is.

While I get the knee jerk reaction to want to say this (I do believe it's true) believing the Bible is not part of salvation. There are people in other countries where the most they'll ever have is the gospel that Jesus died in the cross for their sins, rose from the dead, and that's all they'll ever know and be saved. We are lucky to have access to the whole Bible here in the West and have the ability to go to church. We need to have more mercy with others. My aunt, for example. 99% of the Bible goes entirely over her head and she quickly forgets details. Jesus isn't going to quiz her on whether she knows and believed the story of creation, Noah's Ark, Moses and the 10 plagues, why the pharisees hated Jesus, who Paul was, etc. What's going to matter is if she had faith in Christ. Just a week ago, she thought baptism was having water sprinkled on her because she spent her life watching the kids in her old church never really being taught anything substantial. (The church was Methodist, dying, with a female pastor. She's currently with me going to a Baptist church that teaches the Bible even when it's hard and convicting)

When the world approves of euthanasia and abortion, how do schools prevent suicide in school-aged kids? In Holland they've permitted euthanasia for minors. They tell you it's rare, but so was abortion. We're no longer talking suicide prevention. People need Jesus. You can't set a moral compass if your moral North keeps moving.
