Thing to import to NYC ASAP: Aperitivo, wherein one buys a fairly inexpensive cocktail and it comes with basically an entire meal's worth of elaborate Italian mezze/hors d'oeuvres. I am an hors d'oeuvreivore and I have been waiting for this foodway my whole life.
