This was an interesting bottle for sure. Not amazing but it kept me taking sniff after sniff trying to suss out what was going on. Gotta try more Rostaing!

Who’s had this? Seems like the producer only makes a couple barrels in exceptional years so pretty rare. Though not terribly expensive at ~100 EUR. Wondering if any good.

Well, this is probably one of the funnier things I’ve done but my friend (and sommelier) and I got a CA liquor license and started a wine collective - with our license it allows us to buy wine directly from vintners, get wholesale pricing, buy and house entire collections of wine etc.
We didn’t do this just for us but created it to allow our friends to participate as well.
At some point we may open it up to the world at large - if you love wine, want access to the best wines and avoid retail markups this may be a fit - the team charges for shipping and handling but otherwise pass through the raw cost to our members. Right now we’re saving 15-40% per bottle depending on the winery/vintage.
We call it Drink with Me.
We also create quarterly capsules of the best wines Josh and I have drank and allow members to buy in quantity. The first box is below.

@JS_WineDad @TorbreckBarossa Torbreck Les Amis 2004 is, to this day, one of the best wines I’ve ever had. Straight knockout!

I tasted from this Methusaleh (6L) of 2006 @TorbreckBarossa “Les Amis” 100% Grenache. I cried a tear of pure joy because this wine was perfect. Still fresh, beautifully concentrated fruit, big ripe tannins, a note of black olives, amazing balance and finish. Wow. #wine

Grolleau is known for being a “meh” grape: not much personality, sort of simple, bland. Anne Claude Leflaive, however, has managed to produce quite the wine in 2020. Crowd pleaser with all around positive reviews at a recent lunch for 6. Will try some more. Cheers!
