40 years ago today, April 29, 1986, Roger Clemens struck out 20 Mariners in a 3–1 win at Fenway, becoming the first pitcher in MLB history to hit the 20‑K mark. Only about 13,000 showed up, because Boston was glued to Celtics–Hawks at the Garden. A historic night that half the city barely noticed.

Roger Clemens was stuck in traffic and had to run to Fenway Park just thirty minutes before his 20-strikeout start on this day in 1986 😳

In this photo, Sir Paul McCartney surprised my friend, John Ferriter, playing guitar together for Ferriter's birthday. We lost John on July 25, 2019, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles due to complications from pancreatitis, at the age of 59. 😢 In a town of vipers and demons, John was remembered for his kindness, intelligence, and fierce loyalty to clients and friends. He certainly changed TV forever.
