@DShyKnock Kind of? But not fully. They haven't won anything international, nor has their league. I don't think beating G2 carries the same weight as beating a top LCK/LPL team. Yet. If they keep up this form, and especially if they win something, then yeah

@Vismanus That’s not what is being said here: it is asking if beating G2 is besting a global powerhouse or not

Okay G2 fans you need to be clear on something: What power level do you want to us to assume that you are? "NA only cares about beating EU when they can't even beat the LPL or LCK" Okay but I need you to tell me what you consider yourself because I don't want you changing it after losing tonight. "Can't beat the east" but are you not a top 4 global powerhouse? If so, when we win I will brag as such. If you want to demote yourself and say "Oh it's just NA vs EU" then fine but I don't want to hear future conversations about how you should be considered better than you are. Sure we might not be beating T1 or GenG but if you are claiming to be better than them, then beating you tonight carries real weight for how low you consider us. Draw your line in the same now so we aren't debating this after

has anyone been talking about vice signalling as an antibody response to the motte-and-bailey fallacy? tangentially, someone pointed out to me that people also use vice signalling as a shit test. i've definitely noticed that basically everyone ive met who describes themselves as right-wing when questioned actually hold far less offensive opinions than the ones implied by their rhetoric or chosen labels

@goblinodds Their perception of the vice signaller being a "thoroughly unpleasant and untrustworthy" person makes them very suspicious and reluctant to engage. It would be a lot easier to discuss the points without all the emotional clouding. (LW British family for context)

@goblinodds Personally think it's quite bad. Trying to explain RW points to family takes so much careful time and effort, peeling back the layers of vice signalling from the people they most often hear holding similar views before even being able to discuss the actual point.

@arshgoyal13 So many people use the word biased to mean criticism of the team/player they like, it's crazy

the hate for the lck English broadcast because of bias has always been hilarious to me of course you think the Korean broadcast isnt as biased against [insert your favorite team here] — you don't speak Korean! any analysis of a top 5 lck team (good or bad) gets you shot irl.
mewoo@everyone_mewoo

You know what's hilarious? seeing intl fans watch the korean lck broadcast cuz many dont like the eng casters while seeing korean viewers watch the global steam cuz its in yt and easier to watch as bgm since they are less loud

EMEA Masters isn't just a Tier 2 competition, it's the highest open level where teams from across EMEA can face each other Its importance for the #LEC goes beyond talent development (which most academy systems already provide). It also builds and entertains multiple fanbases across different countries Players like Caliste and Supa were already hyped by their respective fanbases before even joining the LEC, just one of many examples showing how the LEC benefits from a Tier 2 system that leverages EMEA’s diversity Don't let it rot. It's catastrophic that there’s no official broadcast for the event, not even for the finals I hope this is just part of a transition period, and that the European ecosystem will return to Riot’s spotlight, but right now, no one actually knows
Troubleinc.@g_troubleinc

First time in history that Emea Masters has not had an official English broadcast. We are so blind sided by the whole costreaming “debate” that we completely forget where the roots are. We have one of the best tier 2 systems in the entire world, and it’s currently left to rot. So much culture, personality, skill, story behind all those players that nobody will ever know. “We are lacking personality from players and story lines from the broadcast”, but when was it made easily accessible to get those storylines? To have the players make content that’s not generic and actually highlights who they are? Emea Masters is the peak of league of legends when it comes to player development, scouting, prospects and storylines. It is currently absolutely buried. Skewmond, Yike, Naak Nako, Lyncas to name a few (and soooo many more currently in the LEC) made their way through tier 2 and EM. And people barely even know. Spanish league went through a heartbreaking season with their broadcast. NLC? In the absolute dark. We let our tier 2s die, we let league esports die. Sorry for the essay, it’s just been a very heartbreaking last 2 years. Hopefully we somehow recover it 🥺

The biggest thing people are missing about the costreaming discussion is what has been doing and because of the extremely incorrect application load by being in the business of extraneous sponsorships perchance

@QiaochuYuan Feels somewhat inevitable given how little we still know about consciousness. The more we're stabbing in the dark, forming opinions from instinct rather than anything verifiable, the more likely this kind of disagreement

what's actually happening in the discourse is clearly stranger than this. there's a contingent of people to whom computational functionalism seems obviously correct, to whom arguments against seem like nonsense, and a contingent of people to whom computational functionalism seems obviously incorrect, to whom arguments for seem like nonsense. approximately zero meaningful communication appears to be capable of bridging this gap. this is weird! what the fuck is going on with this!
Jonathan Birch@birchlse

Computer scientists often seem incredibly confident one way or the other about computational functionalism. What they should say is that the arguments both for and against provide only inconclusive considerations and the right attitude is therefore one of great uncertainty.

@ItsBrokenScreen @DShyKnock If it wasn't for you that's fine, but that content was the most hyped the community had been for competitive outside of worlds and such for years. And what other teams were streaming all of their scrims and pro games before LR?

Replies blowing up in this tweet because Caedrel crashed out over it on stream Since I’m basically being called an idiot in this here’s the issues: 1) the problem right now is not people calling out costreamers it’s the opposite and Sjokz just addressed this on TikTok - costreamer communities are getting beyond toxic and not giving a shit about the base product beyond the creators themselves then taking that out on everyone else. To say it’s people going at costreamers is just ignoring the louder other half. 2) the answer to the problem isn’t to put the worms back in the can and we all know that. So, when you’re offering a solution that will be part of the “problem” technically you do have an obligation to explain why it’s different Is it self promo? Yeah no shit, it inherently has to be in order to answer the inevitable questions that will pop up after 3) if that Thumbnail is AI then that’s on Flyquest to explain, didn’t think it was given how many thumbnails I’ve seen exactly like it without AI We can chat more later before the #LCS Costream but that covers the bases for now as more comments and the conversation inevitably blow up from here

Incredible video for so many different reasons Gonna make a video reflecting on it for Monday but highly worth your time if you care about the creator business of LoL

@DShyKnock And not to glaze FlyQuest here but from what they showed in the video, they seem to actually give a shit about their content and who makes it so that it's actually good, whereas all Caedrel does is react to things. He literally makes a living off of other people's content.

@arshgoyal13 I appreciate them trying to craft a storyline, but they always hit harder for me when it's a clip of a player saying something they mean and you can hear it I'm sure it would take too much time for most teasers, but interviewing the players and taking excerpts is so much better
