The idea of 'being forced to pump out another sequel' is quite reductive of the efforts that went into the game from everyone else involved, but it also doesn't make sense when some of the best sequels ever made were never intended to exist. (Eg. Godfather 2, Metal Gear 2: SS)

@Nitroid I was "around" when MGS3 released, I was just 10 lmao. The only reason I even knew about MGS3 after MGS2 was the OPM Disc 86 with the demo for MGS3 that also had the demo for SH4 on it. I had to have played that thing 100 times before I got the full game for Christmas that year

@VitriolicVi You're correct, but they were still relatively minor and thankfully Konami have managed to iron a lot of them out, I'm pretty sure the last patch released in February fixed the clouds in the Big Shell introduction, which had been missing since Substance

@SlySinatraa "Minor issues" here I'm guessing is stuff like how framebuffer effects (especially DoF) start to progressively diminish at any resolution beyond 512x448 and any many alpha textures were broken in the same way which iirc doesn't happen when emulating the PS2 version

@Mr__Comics @1_800_That_Guy @jcjgraham No… the devs used an auto smoothing program for all of the models, hence why the previously low poly doughnut and nut are now round The devs also used an AI upscaler on the old low-res textures which caused misspellings This is a perfect example of what’s wrong with the games

In an FPS like halo, things like the NPC models, effects, weapon models etc, that stuff counts a lot more because it is the core of the game. If it was a reused tree from infinite nobody would have cared

@VitriolicVi @Damac1214 That 2021 game has the best assets Halo has ever had. That original games art lead said he wanted it to look like this, and Infinites style is closer to 2 & 3 than CE. Elden Ring reused assets (reskins) all the way back from Dark Souls 1. Reusing assets isn't an issue if good

@thatone_dude117 @Damac1214 The asset on the right was only used in two separate titles due to them literally being 24 hours apart in universe, and then they never used them again. That's not the same as 343 reusing assets from a 2021 game in a 2026 remake of a 2001 game, at all.

@Damac1214 Plenty of amazing games, including remakes, that reuse assets. CE was a product of its times, not everything is part of the art style, sometimes its a limitation
