@SantiagoAuFund US has been trying to do this for sometime and miserably failing. More than external signs, internal ones - more clear. Culture wars, division. If someone doesn’t see it, it just means they’re keeping their eyes closed and navigating based on their FEELINGS. Is that you? 😉

@VivD24 If the US invaded another country to shore up support at home as well as assert its strength towards the rest of the world as a power to be reckoned with, would you also agree this was a sign of decline?

Something can and something will eventually replace the USD. I’m just trying to explain to people why the currently proposed ideas as to what this is and when this is…are spurious at best.
@

@SantiagoAuFund its disingenuous to say nothing can replace $. It will be bilateral trade in national CCY. China is the largest trading nation of the world, so natural people will maintain some reserves in Yuan. what is certain is bell tolls for $ as global reserve CCY. Too much weaponisation

"History...tells us investors tend to flock into dollar-denominated assets during times of stress" No, take a longer historical lens. People exit devaluing currencies. That's the key difference vs 2008. USD is no longer too big to fail. Hope what comes next is BTC, and not RMB.

.@balajis recently predicted bitcoin will hit $1 million and forecast hyperinflation and a dollar crash. But doomsayers are ignoring other historical precedents. @godbole17 reports trib.al/uKrRBGQ

@SantiagoAuFund @LukeGromen @soclose2me The irony in the statement, “Investing is about what happens in the future, NOT WHAT HAPPENED IN THE PAST.” investing has always been what will happen in the future based on what has happened in the past.

@LukeGromen @soclose2me Investing is about what happens in the future, not what happened in the past. The US has been practicing to fight WWIII since end of WWII. If you think this practice is not going to be an advantage over those who have not practiced, what was pt of all your eagle scout training?

Correct...but if the purchasing power of the currency is allowed to fall v. physical gold, but only phys gold sourced from London or NY (not from Mainland China), then the falling purchasing power leads to a run on western gold, the Achilles Heel of the western financial system.

@LukeGromen None of the Iraqi China oil trade takes place in Yuan. It’s bartering construction for oil. Not sure why you are arguing this point. It is what it is.

Why did US want strong USD in 2022? Leverage on Rest of World. What was accomplished? - Economic crisis abroad - Industrial migration from Europe to US - New military installations on Japanese islands - Russia going from budget surplus to deficit The USD is a weapon…✌️

Periodic reminder that despite all the BOJ shenanigans, and regardless of where it goes in the short term, this ends with the Yen going to 200. And then higher.

This again shows a basically misunderstanding of the theory. The entire world depends on Energy. Not just the US. And as the last year showed, that dependence is hurting the rest of the world more than it is hurting the US.
