@dhh We built Shoutbox.net on bare metal to save on costs, but the real payoff is days like this, 100% up while half the internet struggles. It’s definitely harder and more painful at first, but massively rewarding in the long run

Cloud marketing convinced a generation of programmers that the scariest thing in the world was to connect their own server to the internet. All so they could be sold and resold the same centralized dependencies at huge markups.

@levelsio Built Shoutbox.net on bare metal to keep costs low but the real payoff is moments like this. Everything’s still 100% up while half the internet is having a bad day 😅

After 5+ years with @SendGrid, they blocked our account due to suspicious traffic, deleted 50,000 queued emails with no option to reactivate, impacting 5,000+ @TallyForms users.
And this was their response.
SaaS people: which email provider do you trust? Looking for solid alternatives.

@arvidkahl A good chunk of the web runs on Cloudflare right now, so they have a solid base to work with. But what’s a fair price for an AI crawl? That’s where it gets tricky. Google pays news sites for indexing, but it’s peanuts

Ladies and gentlemen, I've officially posted my way to the top:
I'm joining @X as Head of Product.
𝕏 is the most important social network in the world. It's where internet culture originates and where the world's most influential people convene.
Finding my community and building an audience on 𝕏 has impacted my life more than any single thing: it's unlocked friendships, professional opportunities and it's even where I met my girlfriend.
While I already spend every waking hour on this app, I'll now be spending that time helping others unlock that same value. And we'll certainly be leveraging the power of Grok to create hyper-relevant timelines and help people understand everything that's happening.
Thanks @elonmusk and the 𝕏 team for inviting me to work on the product that I live and breathe.

@JamesIvings @LeaveMeAloneApp I was shocked when this rolled out on my Gmail today
English

@vlad @LeaveMeAloneApp They've been rolling this out for like 2 years and I still don't have it in my Gmail 😄
English

Just noticed, Google killed @JamesIvings' @LeaveMeAloneApp.
A great indie tool for cleaning up your inbox.
Naturally, Google couldn't allow privacy + control outside the Googleplex.
API chokeholds or platform games, big tech always wins.
Shame

Setting up email shouldn't suck.
Shoutbox.net makes it painless — you'll be sending in no time.
No waiting. No pain. Just send.

I have a theory that their open source model will qualify, and will also be released by end of summer
Sam Altman@sama
what year do you think an o3-mini level model will run on a phone?
English

@miteva_alex Think for most it's a constant battle: 'one more iteration' vs. 'the bills won't pay themselves'
English

@ProductHunt Early access to Shoutbox.net is now open. DM me if you’d like to try it out

Has Zoom shipped anything since Covid started? What do the engineers even do all day?
Ankur Nagpal@ankurnagpal
Zoom fumbled the bag so badly They had a peak market cap in the hundreds of billions They could have bought a bunch of cool companies between 2020-22 Instead, their product somehow got worse (or everyone else got better?) and revenue growth is basically done

I don't know why this is even a discussion
Cursor can give us $20/mo unlimited plans by burning VC money.
They are betting on a deal with Anthropic, but...
💀 ppl already ditching Cursor for Claude Code
They CANNOT be profitable at this price point, rate limit or not. Try using your own keys for a day.
expect Cursor prices to go up in the future. bookmark this post and return in 1 year.
I will shave my head if it's still $20/mo unlimited 🫡

Dan ⚡️@d4m1n
when did Cursor change Pro to unlimited agent requests lol there is no way they are making money. zero chance. I love it

Vercel is secure by default and mitigates attacks faster than any other solution in the market. We know this because other CDNs frequently proxy attacks to us 🫠. We’re now giving you more visibility:
