If you see a helicopter towing one of these over your neighborhood, bad news: your town is getting a data center. They’re running airborne electromagnetic surveys to map groundwater in the area. TRANSLATION: figuring out how much water they can divert before people notice.

22,000 gallons of jet fuel leaked from Joint Base Andrews into a Potomac tributary sometime this spring. We still don’t know when it happened, or the extent of the damage. Internal docs show that the base knew there were problems and didn’t report them. notus.org/climate-enviro…

Associate Press wins a Pulitzer for showing how across the world, surveillance technology – often made by Silicon Valley and sold with US government blessing despite sanctions – is increasingly monitoring the moves of citizens who have done nothing wrong. trib.al/r2ZVHZz

If a monkey hoarded more bananas than it could eat, while most of the other monkeys starved, scientists would study that monkey to figure out what was wrong with it. When humans do it, we put them on the cover of Forbes.

18 months ago, noted lefty rag The Economist had this cover. Cut to today and nearly 3/4 of households are struggling to buy basic necessities but I guess there was no choice, Joe Biden was boring and the $1 street vendor hot dogs went up to $1.50 in NYC 🙃

As America descends deeper into authoritarian fascism under Trump, all six conservative Supreme Court justices attended his state dinner with King Charles — thus removing any pretense of neutrality.

In September 1946, Albert Einstein called racısm America’s “worst disease.” Earlier that year, he told students and faculty at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, the oldest Black college in the Western world, that racial segregation was “not a disease of colored people, but a dısease of whıte people, adding, “I will not remain silent about it.” When Albert Einstein moved to America, he was disappointed to see how Black people were being treated. Even in his new hometown of Princeton, he observed separation of the whıte and bIack societies. Einstein thought of segregation as “unacceptable.” Albert Einstein rarely accepted honorary doctorates, but he did so for Lincoln University, a small historically Black college in Pennsylvania in 1946. He also gave a lecture before a small group of students who were seen with him in the photo. Also taught Black university students, but the press didn't like to publicise it as the idea of educated equal Black people scared the establishment.

How is this being treated as normal? A Republican governor is declaring a state of emergency to cancel an ongoing election for Congress. If you think this is ends with redistricting, you are not paying attention.

It's really funny how debt is forgivable when it's tied to yachts, hedge funds, or failed businesses, but suddenly becomes a character flaw when it's tied to education, healthcare, or survival.
