"All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States." When it comes to abandoning the plain speech of the Constitution and trying to turn it into a "living document," we've reached the point where, yes, both sides do it. And we should reject both sides when they try to do it.

It just feels so painfully obvious that the 14th amendment does not mean that a 9-months pregnant woman from Mexico can cross the Rio Grande illegally, give birth, and be allowed to stay because her child is now a natural born citizen.

If you really hate birthright citizenship, propose a new amendment to clarify that the 14th amendment applies only to the children of mothers here legally with the intention of long-term residence. I don’t know if that passes, but it absolutely has very real support.

@VerumVulnero1 Without birthright citizenship (use of birth certificate/place of birth) I challenge anyone to prove that they, or their ancestors were legal. I've got two adopted Korean kids. They've got naturalization papers. Without birthright rules, they are in better position than I am.

District courts run by crazed “judges” have blocked Trump’s executive order which limited birthright citizenship to those, you know, eligible under the policy called "The 14th Amendment." For the record, only if one or both parents are US citizens or have lawful permanent residence status is birthright citizenship conferred to the newborn. Also for the record, the actual intent of the 14th Amendment was to grant citizenship to black slaves and their descendants and to protect their rights, not to automatically grant citizenship to the “anchor babies” of invaders from Mexico.
