As a Detroit ex-pat I'll try to respond. Several areas are attractive and should have wider awareness. Grand Rapids-Holland-Muskegon come to mind but there are others. Areas like Traverse City and Petoskey are flipping gorgeous in the summer and that's the key: in the summer. There's a standing joke that if summer shows up on a weekend, we'll have a picnic. Now the license plates say, "Great Lakes State" but when I was a kid they said, "Winter Wonderland". I used to have a sweatshirt that said, "Michigan. Walk softly and carry a big snow shovel". When I lived in Ludington in the depth of winter, I'd blow snow in the morning, go to work, come home at lunch to blow snow, then come home in the evening and blow snow again. The biggest open sore on the state is Detroit. I left it two days after my 18th birthday in 1970. The best thing I ever saw was Detroit in my rear view mirror.

They restart in under 400 milliseconds… faster than your foot moves from brake to gas. Your car doesn't 'die.' The engine decouples from the drivetrain via a reinforced starter motor rated for 500,000+ cycles. This isn't Obama. It's thermodynamics. An engine burning fuel at zero mph does zero useful work. That's not politics. That's the first law. You're the EPA administrator and you don't understand combustion efficiency. Terrifying.

@TheFarcissist @StealthQE4 It depends on the market you live in now. Certain markets it definitely makes more sense to rent in the short term. I bought a while ago and it definitely made sense but if we get a large correction, maybe not after all the money put in? Time will tell!

Well said. I feel the exact same way. I don’t think housing will ever be looked at like it was in the past ever again. These younger generations think differently and it’s just simply too expensive. It’s no longer practical.
