ACFODE Hosts @Sida Delegation in Kyaka II Refugee Settlement Action for Development (ACFODE) had the honour of hosting a delegation from the @Sida during their visit to Kyaka II Refugee Settlement in Kyegegwa District. Led by our Executive Director, @ReginaBafaki, the visit highlighted ACFODE’s work in advancing gender equality, women’s empowerment, and peaceful coexistence among refugee and host communities. Through its partnership with @weeffect , @acfode is implementing initiatives that promote women’s leadership, economic empowerment through VSLA groups, GBV prevention, and community dialogue, including the Peace Hut (Nyumba ya Usalama) which provides a safe space for survivors of violence. The delegation also engaged with community members and project beneficiaries who shared testimonies on improved livelihoods, stronger family relationships, and increased awareness around gender equality. Women small-scale farmers in Uganda are at the heart of climate adaptation, practicing intercropping and other climate-smart farming methods that protect crops from pests and erratic weather. They also preserve resilient indigenous seeds, and diversify income-generating activities such as crop production, trade, and animal rearing to better withstand climate shocks. #WomenFarmersAtTheCentre #IWD2026 #FeedTheFuture

#IWD2026 reminds us that empowering women by strengthening their access to resources and decision-making spaces helps build more inclusive and resilient food systems. Through inclusive platforms, @ESAFFUganda has enabled more than 30,000 women small-scale farmers to have a voice in decisions affecting their land, markets, and budgeting processes. Let us work together to strengthen women farmers’ voices, enhance their access to productive resources, and turn policy commitments into real change. Earlier today, our National Coordinator @NMugimba led the @ESAFFUganda team in signing an MoU with the Uganda Parliamentary Alliance on Food and Nutrition Security (UPA-FNS). This partnership formalizes our collaboration to strengthen food and nutrition security in Uganda by connecting small-scale farmers, especially women, youth, and marginalized groups with Parliament and the different parliamentary processes. Together, we will engage in advocacy for nutrition-sensitive policies, small scale farmers–Parliament dialogue, research, policy reviews, joint fundraising and capacity-building on agroecology, climate resilience, and sustainable diets. #FundAgroecology #Parliamentarians4Agroecology

From farm to classroom: 🌱📚 Last year, Triumph's mom's cooperative sold 10,000 bags of beans to @WFP. Some of that food fed learners at Triumph’s school through the home‑grown school feeding programme. School meals in #Uganda nourish students and strengthen economies. Day 1 of the SUN Civil Society Network Eastern & Southern Africa Regional Meeting kicked off with momentum. Hosted by Food Bank Botswana, @CSBAGUGANDA represented by @Kabali_tina and joined together with @FRAUGANDA are diving deep into the theme “Strengthening Accountable Food Systems for Nutrition Security.”  Across Eastern, Southern, Western, Central, and Island nations, Civil Society actors have united to reflect on the urgent need to tackle malnutrition. Key takeaways from today: 🤝 Collaboration is key: Strengthening partnerships among SUN Alliances across the region. 📊 Accountability matters: Reviewing progress since 2024 to identify what works and where we need to scale up. 🌍 Local solutions: Reaffirming that Africa’s food systems transformation must be community-driven and supported by strong regional cooperation. The conversation is just getting started. Over the next few days, we are —charting a collective pathway toward resilient food systems and a malnutrition-free Africa. #FoodBankBotswana @FRAUGANDA @mofpedU @ESAFFUG @ACODE_Uganda

𝐖𝐃𝐅 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 Agriculture continues to be the backbone of household incomes in Uganda’s rural communities at large despite facing constant climate havoc all around the year. Youth-led innovations continue to show progress in advancing agro-tech solutions that communities especially smallholder farmers can adopt for improved yields and incomes all year round. The challenge at the moment is that, these youth-led agro-tech startups still continue to lack enough capital to scale up along with limited tasted products for our local needs. We call upon agro-financiers to avail flexible funding solutions to findable and fundable social ventures that are aiming at supporting smallholder farmers with low cost high impact solutions. This can only be achieved along with vibrant innovation and collaboration that is aimed at building a sustainable green economy and mutual benefit to all partners. #WillingnessMatters #Youth4AgriTech #ClimateAdoption #UGBudgets #Agriculture #food4All #Stronger2Gether

Dear our Hon. @FrankTumwebazek, Just thinking out loud, Don’t you think 🤔 we still have inter generational gaps that aren’t yet closed through dialogue along with proper programming that is community-driven yet we still need each other to grow the agricultural sector? Tech is there, but are we ready to involve and Nature the sector? How accessible are the agri-tech platforms and are they speaking to the local end user at community level? We submit @mattejockas

Dear Ugandan Young tech-prenuers and innovators, in the agriculture space, we want to connect with you. We need to adopt the "New Agriculture " and thus be able to overcome the limitations facing the traditional factors of production. Land is now limited by size & Climate Change. Labour is limited by diminishing workforce etc. The new enabling factor to production & productivity now is knowledge that powers innovations. Digitally enabled vertical farming ( where all inputs are controlled & outputs can be predicted in a precise manner ) is the future of agriculture. I have tasked our research agency @narouganda to guide you on how u can all register & then after we conduct our dialogue. We must connect and digitize our farms & value chains ,so then we shall be able to fully exploit our arable land production potential on both horizontal & vertical scale. @narouganda please put up a link or a procedure to enable registration online. Stakeholders @MoICT_Ug @UCC_Official @NITAUganda1 @ICTAUg will also be reached out formally . Enjoy the weekend & please utilize the rains to plant .
