Ok. Anaesthetists...what is this? A double guedel? Why?! My Dad did anaesthetics, ICU and chronic pain. This was with other medical things. I'm an anaesthetist. They don't come apart.

I have precisely ZERO idea what people are doing when they inspect inside their egg boxes at the supermarket. But for 20 odd years I've dutifully opened the box, nodded appreciatively, and then put my eggs in the trolley without the faintest idea what the hell I'm doing or why.

This is certainly my current experience. I chat to the Foundation Drs and Clinical Fellows. They almost all plan to go to Australia or New Zealand. Some will return, but many won’t. It’s a real worry. Not the going, but the not coming back…

@DrLindseyFitz Discovered by Guthrie in America in 1831. He named it Sweet whiskey and used it to set a broken arm in a child!! Next time you are in Chicago go and see the Guthrie Boulder that commemorates this discovery!

Just finished reading this book and learnt so much about surgeons who influenced Gillies. Slightly disappointed that contributions made by anaesthesia were minimised but I am very biased!! Great read
