@rpaton11 I hope you’re covering the introduction of anaesthesia and the great John Snow. Not only the first British anaesthetist but also widely regarded as the father of epidemiology
English

@JamesTitcombe Thank you James, for your consistently kind and balanced messaging. Where do we find you now?
English

@Anaes_Journal We tried to get it in as “What’s a woman gotta do…”, but the Editor-in-Chief put his foot down. Editors - power-crazed, the lot of them!
English

Does this paper win 'best title' for 2025 so far!?
"What's a woman got to do to get an epidural round here? Testing mothers and their capacity to the limits"

@jk_rowling Quite right too! I’ve got a full set, purchased only because I felt sorry for you. Can’t imagine how they got to be so thumbed, tatty and tea-stained…
English

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who bought one of my books even though you never cared about them. It was very kind of you to take pity on me 🙏 #blessed

Lovely afternoon at Melton Cheese Fair. Hardly bought anything, honest! And certainly not an unfeasibly large quantity of @HartingtonKings cracked black pepper. Out with the crackers… @JoeBangles11

English

@almurray Yes. Rebooted it three times. Stays on 5-10 minutes, then crashes again
English

@SoVeryBritish This guy deserves some sort of award for the most British response ever to a police raid…

@Baddiel Doctor here. I had Kenalog every year for about 15 years - the only drug that would even touch the sides. Never did me any harm *foams at mouth and twitches uncontrollably*

@DrNFreeman @NavBahal @Jennythatcanbl1 @RegionalAnaesUK Brilliant! You’ve earned your place there, Naomi.
English

Talk about imposter syndrome🥴! No, I will embrace the power of this incredible lineup and draw from the well of energy that surrounds this webinar. 💪Thanks to @NavBahal and @Jennythatcanbl1 for this incredible opportunity! So excited @RegionalAnaesUK

@doctimcook @Fionafionakel @DrLKVaughan We trialed these in Nottingham maternity unit when I was there (around 2018, I think). They really helped with peer communication in an emergency and ensured that patients and relatives knew our names and roles.
English

Many will disagree with this.
Regarding the picture it’s the one item that seems to provide accurate information about the individual that others might need.
More generally hats (like badges) inform those around you who you are
-useful & unambiguous to patients who may forget if only a verbal introduction is used
-generally invaluable to colleagues as teams very every day in theatres
-a significant safety benefit in emergencies when ‘flash teams’ form. It rapidly enables personalised communication, triage of who needs to be there, who doesn’t & enables rapid task allocation appropriate to role & seniority.
-more space than badges, not obscured by clothing & therefore legible
It’s an issue of communiction, not vanity.
I’ve been wearing one for about six months. One thing I’ve found is that those I’m speaking to communicate better TO me because they know who I am. I’ve usually forgotten my name is emblazoned on my head and am wondering how they know my name is Tim!

An unexpected outcome of the farrago over The Times article is the settling of an old Twitter debate:
Are theatre caps with names/roles useful?
No, no they are not.
Dr Done@Dr_Done_
Since @thetimes decided to go there… Is this level of deception acceptable? Should parents who google this individual be lied to that he’s a paediatric surgeon?
English

@CartlandDavid Not frothing. Firm instructions from GP not to froth on account of blood pressure. More of a gentle simmer really.
English

Imagine being a retired NHS consultant frothing over a strangers GMC hearing whereby he is without doubt going to win, clear his name then sue the organisation to oblivion for abuse of process, breach of the ECHR, libel, defamation, harassment and more. Publicly, loudly and proudly!

@Poppyjuice @CartlandDavid Good news is that a GMC hearing date for a Dr David Cartland has been fixed. Bad news is that it’s not until 11.6.25.
English

@LondonAllergy Lot of action in Lincoln, I’ll have you know. Steep Hill, great whisky shop, cathedral. The list is endless…

English

Serial disinformation spreader @CartlandDavid now claiming a lady with advanced cancer was killed by the blood transfusion she received.
I cannot believe how long he is being allowed to keep harming the public trust in healthcare.
It's a failure of regulation.
