@HoustonChron Bro still think it’s just about gambling and not the fact he bet on his own team
English

Joey McGuire said new Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby is willing to accept punishment for gambling, but believes it shouldn't end his career. bit.ly/434BDY1

English

@MrBradThomas @TheSlanderU Texas won’t play any of them either
English

@TheSlanderU While I think Sark is an idiot, he never said Texas tech sucks. He said the teams they play suck
English

@BijanThrobinson @TBob53 Because Texas talks a big game and comes out and says they’d beat all those teams with their 2s and 3s but then hides when it comes to actually playing them. Could be 10 years from now when Texas has open schedule spots they’ll still say no to all those teams
English

@BijanThrobinson @TBob53 Texas won’t ever schedule a game with Tech, TCU, Baylor, Houston or SMU. Just won’t. It’s ok to admit it
English

@BijanThrobinson @TBob53 I hate Tech but UT isn’t scheduling any in-state OOC games against power conference opponents no matter how many years in advance
English

@TBob53 Thought you were smarter than this.
This is big time fake tough from tech. Their OOC schedule is planned years out and it’s all cupcakes. We play Ohio state week two.
No need to negotiate with clout chasing terrorists.

@RetailBrokerHTX @Jamesmchugh It may not be but it’s his hometown, he basically owns the island and he’s been quietly building his real estate profile out to support casino development
English

@WHNCoogs @Jamesmchugh Like i said 3 major casinos in 3 states that currently draw in a ton of Texans
I’m not even sure a location in Galveston is the best real estate move even if the magic wand was waived and gaming was legalized
English

Caesars is in urgent need of new blood ownership, Fertitta def knows what he’s doing in this category
While I applaud this move, he’s also the largest single owner in Wynn with 12% and of course owns his golden nugget brand too
Irony is a guy from no gaming Texas on this run
CultureMap Houston@culturemap
Houston billionaire Tilman Fertitta acquires Caesars for $17.6 billion bit.ly/4dNXQ1d
English

@RetailBrokerHTX @Jamesmchugh I think he’s dreamt of his own casinos in Galveston since he got into the business and that was always the end goal. Also with amount of reach he has over the industry after this move, he stands to make a lot more dominating the state of TX than his current situation in Louisiana
English

@WHNCoogs @Jamesmchugh Perhaps. But keep in mind he has giant operations in Lake Charles, (now) New Orleans, and Biloxi that would all stand to lose from Texas gaming competition
So he might not be as gung ho as you might think. Plus he’s a known republican, as is Adelson, the other power player here
English

@RetailBrokerHTX @Jamesmchugh I know his role is unrelated but the fact he has a role at all implies he has connections who can make things happen
English

@WHNCoogs @Jamesmchugh His role is a federal dignitary, so doesn’t have any bearing on Texas politics
I would love to be wrong, but my state just went out of its way to kill a multi billion dollar business bc of its hard social politics, so I can’t help but be skeptical of attitudes towards gambling
English

@RetailBrokerHTX @Jamesmchugh He’s got an official government position now tho, that’s got to change things with his ability to make things happen behind scenes now, no?
English

@WHNCoogs @Jamesmchugh He’s been buying up interests in casinos for years with no needed agenda of legalized gambling in Texas.
It was a non factor for him to go into this category.
If I had a way to track the bet, I would give you 5:1 odds there is no legalized gambling in Texas 20 years from now.
English

@RetailBrokerHTX @Jamesmchugh He’s not making the move unless he knows it’s on the horizon
English

@Jamesmchugh I’m aware it existed into the 50s, but there is no gambling in Texas today
English

@HoustonJuan @FortressHouston With Tilman’s political ties I think he already knows it’s around the corner with this deal
English

@fedbrames @Joseph_Duarte It is, I love it. Just hope most other people do too
English

@WHNCoogs @Joseph_Duarte 11 am on ESPN after College Gameday is a really good time slot, especially for home opener
English

Wait until they find out the tarps off trend started because the Houston Cougars were up big on the road last football season
John Fanta@John_Fanta
There’s a new trend in America’s Pastime. Here’s Bob Costas:
English

@LVCoug @ByuSome @Big12Conference Lot of returning starters, I expect Weigman and Amare Thomas to compete for top QB-WR duo in the conference. I also expect Makhi Hughes to regain his Tulane form. Overall most excited I’ve been about a UH team since 2016
English

@ByuSome @Big12Conference Very reasonable. I agree about Houston. Coog fans, tell us about this year’s team.
English

Aight Big XII fans, here is my initial 2026 predictions. Convince me otherwise. Where am I right? Where am I wrong? Let's hear it.
Also, I'm hearing a lot of Houston hype...but IDK if I'm buying it. For now, I'm gonna put them as "Knocking at the door" but that's me eating a little bit of hype that I don't know, full transparency.
I just can't see Cincy, Colorado and ISU being worth a darn. West Virginia and OSU actually become competitive this year, but still fall short. Aranda is gonna be gone at Baylor IMO. Frost still needs time at UCF to get it together.
I think Kansas, KSU and Utah are bowl eligible.
TCU without Hoover is interesting. TCU fans, do you guys have the pieces?
ASU is just gonna be tough with Kenny there. Just is. If they can put a few things together, they're a dark horse, and if not, I think they can slip after losing Leavitt and Skatt. Idk. We'll see.
Arizona and Houston feel like they can be sneaky.
BYU and Tech still the frontrunners IMO. IDK if people are gonna disagree with that one besides Ute fans, but do they really count as people?

English

@Girthnowitzki1 @FortressHouston The replay official who refused to send the missed 1st down call to a booth review was a UT alum. Favoritism plain as day
English

Remember - Texas had to cheat just to beat a 1st year B12 Houston Team.
First and 16 - A Big 12 Podcast@Firstand16_Pod
Teams I would take over Texas with their 2's and 3's Arizona Arizona State Baylor BYU Cincinnati Colorado Houston Iowa State Kansas Kansas State Oklahoma State TCU Texas Tech UCF Utah West Virginia
