Welcome to the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention’s X account! President Biden charged us with four central goals, and we’re just getting started.

Devices that turn semi-automatic firearms into fully automatic guns are called machinegun conversion devices – their impacts are devastating. They're already illegal, but they're flooding our communities. My new Task Force is working to address these emerging threats head-on.

Congressional Republicans are trying to defund the Office of Gun Violence Prevention, attack the FBI, and abolish the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. Folks, you can’t be pro-law enforcement and be anti-FBI and ATF.

The lack of guidance to prepare students and educators for shootings, and minimize the trauma of active shooter drills, is unacceptable. My Administration will produce information for schools to improve drills, create age-appropriate content, and better communicate with parents.

Guns are the #1 killer of children in America. It’s sick. And it's sick if your response is “get over it” or it’s a “fact of life” as some of my colleagues across the aisle have said. Who the hell do these people think they are?

Today, I'll sign an Executive Order to crack down on emerging firearm threats like unserialized, 3D-printed guns and machine gun conversion devices. It'll also direct my Cabinet to help improve school-based active shooter drills. It's our job to do better.

I never want another school to experience the tragedy my hometown of Parkland did. Thanks to the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act signed by @POTUS, $1.3 billion are provided to make schools safer through security enhancements, resource officers, and more.

There are 15 days until the second anniversary of President Biden’s Bipartisan Safer Communities Act – the most significant new gun violence prevention law in nearly 30 years. Each day, we are going to highlight one key feature of the law.

Firearms trafficking and straw purchasing are two key sources of guns used in crime. President Biden’s Bipartisan Safer Communities Act gives law enforcement new tools to stop the illegal flow of firearms into your community.

BSCA, for the first time ever, makes gun trafficking and firearm straw purchasing federal crimes. Today, the Justice Department announced that it has used President Biden’s BSCA to charge more than 500 defendants with firearms trafficking or straw purchasing.

Licensed gun dealers in America must run background checks on their customers.
 But not every gun dealer who ought to be licensed is licensed. Today, my Administration is clarifying when folks must get their license and run background checks, and ensuring that gun show and online sale loopholes no longer exist. We're keeping guns out of the hands of abusers and felons.

As the head of the first-ever White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention, I am proud to announce that all gun dealers must conduct background checks no matter where or how they sell. This will save lives and keep our communities safe.

But we can't end this crisis alone, Congress must take action to ban assault weapons, create a national red flag law, pass universal background checks and invest in violence prevention strategies to #endgunviolence.
