Our final guest speaker for today is Stephan Bashford who is the Strategic Director of Economy and Skills at the West of England Combined Authority. He will be giving the room a regional Government update

Some key areas for attention are: - Industrial plan and national skills plan - Other infrastructure across the region such as housing to support the industrial plans - government consistency

Our third guest speaker today is Phil Smith of Business West. He will be addressing business and skills from a regional standpoint

Every pound spent on education and skills has the greatest possible impact on ensuring all learners can realise their potential

Our second guest speaker today is David Withey of the ESFA. Providing the network with a national update of the ESFA government

The solution to make the SME’s more productive is to solve the skills gap crisis. World class skills to world class businesses will become a focus point, finding the route to deliver these skills will be the key

There is a large gap between confidence and action within UK SME’s, around 24%. Highlighting the current productivity issues within the UK which is related to the skills gap in businesses.
