When I was a kid my parents would make me pick out a tree branch or a belt to be spanked with, which I thought was up there on the redneck corporal punishment scale, but then I dated a guy who casually mentioned that he was regularly paddled by his principal in high school

Shocking number of millennial and Gen Z parents spank their kids, study says: 'Necessary to raise a child properly' trib.al/zdAMS8o

My daughter's bf Ajon Singh wrote the script for this and it's a total banger. This movie: absolutely killer. Coming in the Fall

I don't love talking about my early life or my fucked up family but it all came out in this podcast on the cost of telling the truth.

@herandrews unfortunately, in fact she never discovered what she had gotten into; she allowed no discussion of her choices and she locked into a path (and a man) with never-ending adolescent ferocity

Julienne Busic’s memoir “Lovers and Madmen: A True Story of Passion, Politics, and Air Piracy” is a fascinating document, deserving its place among memoirs by nice American (or English) girls who marry foreign radicals and discover over a lifetime what they’ve gotten into.

RIP to my friend Julienne Busic🙏

@herandrews @SergeantClub As a teenager she fell absurdly in love with a dark stranger and clamped onto him and his cause for the entirety of her life. Fundamentally a sad story. I’m her brother (Busic)

I recommend the rather odd memoir of Julienne Busic, who hijacked a plane in 1976 with her husband Zvonko Busic in the name of Croatian independence, as an example of how this revolutionary impulse in women can be channeled into the strangest causes. (She had no connection to Yugoslavia apart from her husband.)
