The feds just pumped over a billion dollars into modernizing the Red Line on the north side of Chicago Its time to modernize the land use around it to help the city grow. Come advocate for one of the biggest positive zoning changes in Chicago's history tonight!!! Deets below

@WThyer Your ride reminded me of this other one, one-day but across a narrow part of the state and only really doable because it tends to have 15+ mph tailwinds haha odram.com

My friend and I took the South Shore line from Chicago to South Bend, IN and then rode our bikes across Michigan to Detroit! It took 4 days and was about 250 miles 🚴‍♂️

@NWChiFiets And Chelsea to Detroit was okay. Still a lot of shoulder riding, although I highly recommend Hines Park for getting into Detroit. A long park with a bumpy paved bike trail but a really good road without much traffic. And Ann Arbor is definitely worth a stop!

@NWChiFiets Absolutely! Honestly, we pretty much followed google maps. Like I said Battle Creek to Chelsea wasn't great, so maybe there's a better option. The highlighted bike path leading to Jackson was the best part of the ride by far.

Overall, a very nice tour! If I did it again, I would spread it out across 5 days. 60-70 mile days is too much for me. Michigan was great and I want to visit Detroit again.

The final day was Chelsea to Detroit, through Ann Arbor. Another day of mostly shoulder riding, and then the long approach into Detroit. Ann Arbor is gorgeous, and downtown Detroit is breathtaking.

Housing is more expensive now. There are a few reasons for this. Here in Chicago, one of those reasons isn’t super obvious—until you go to a community meeting for a local housing proposal. Here’s a thread about the absurdity of housing development in 2024🧵

We combined all forms of Active mobility (walking and cycling) into A, moving by Public Transport (Bus or Metro) into B, and moving by Car (including motorbikes and taxis) into C. The result: the ABC of mobility 🚶🚌🚗 Check out our new paper 👇🧵 #f0015" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
