The reality now is that we are living in an oligarchic society. The top 1% owns more wealth than the bottom 92%. Over the last 30 years, the top 1%'s wealth has increased by $21 trillion while the bottom half's declined. Is that the kind of country we are satisfied with?

@Goodbye_Jesus In the world's oldest Bible, the 4th century Codex Sinaiticus, the Gospel of Mark has no virgin birth and ends with no resurrection story, just an empty tomb. Various endings were added later by copyists in some manuscripts to try to remedy things. biblicalarchaeology.org/daily/biblical…

If Jesus rose from the dead and is omnipresent, why do his followers need to keep telling us that he is alive? #exchristian

@Goodbye_Jesus It’s like a game of existential hide and seek in which his followers point in various directions where he might be found, yet he is never found.

@Goodbye_Jesus For Christians and other mainstream religious sects, beliefs are synonymous with “truth.” If I believe it, it’s true. But, that only applies if you’re part of their group. If you believe something different, it can’t be true because the group disagrees. What a sick system.

Christians deride non-theists for “the naïve belief that something can come from nothing,” but when you ask them where their God came from, they’ll tell you that's a stupid question. Exhibit A Below Maybe if I had 4 theological degrees instead of 3...
Al Parkes@Aj2Parkes

@Goodbye_Jesus Tim, this tweet is a bit shallow. Either that or you know little about Christian theology. Christians believe that God has always existed, that He didn’t “come from” anywhere. You should know this if you were once a Christian as it is a basic tenet of the faith.

@Plasticdoe @johnpavlovitz Sarah - I’m not trying to pick a fight. I was a Christian for 45 years, I know how followers are taught to interpret the scriptures. It just strikes me that the Bible cannot stand on its own - it needs to be interpreted and there is no universal interpretation.

The reason people outside Christianity think that followers of Jesus picking up the cause of tools of mass murder and rapid carnage is a blasphemous disconnect—is because it is. Go ahead and love your guns, just don't try and pretend Jesus is OK with it. johnpavlovitz.com/2018/02/21/no-…

@johnpavlovitz The Christian Bible does not present this big “God”. It offers a war mongering, jealous father who requires blood sacrifice to appease his anger.

Were you given the option not to believe in God when you were a child?

@Jugbo I was not given a choice. I was indoctrinated since day one. As a child I was given two “choices” - heaven or hell. Which would a four year old choose?

@AtheistPrime So, you believe in God? God is a myth and that myth creates a lot of trauma.

Back when you were an evangelical, did you ever do a “prayer walk”? Apparently you’re supposed to walk in a group through a neighbourhood or city, praying and “claiming victory” over that area as you go. Evangelism breakthrough coming soon!! #exvangelical #igotout

Did anyone else used to hear things in sermons like: ‘Because of what Jesus did on the cross, when God looks at you, he doesn’t see you, he sees Jesus.’ It always struck me as this dehumanising erasure of identity and individuality. I kinda wanted God to see me.

@leegallyred Emotions are non-binary. Humans are feeling machines so to not cry is to shut off a certain set of emotions. Crying also reduces stress which is it’s basic function. I cry when I need to cry.

@Goodbye_Jesus Let's back up further - the idea that Yahweh had to take his rage out on someone and created a perfect son to embody his wrath is abhorrent. Imagine if a human father did that? We would call him a monster at the very least.

Christianity is based on the premise that the God of the Universe became a man, lived a perfect life, died a sacrificial death, and rose from the dead— without one person present to write a surviving contemporary record of any of these events. 1 of the reasons I'm #ExChristian

Deconverting & Reconstructing 1. Summon your courageous self. 2. Take you time. 3. Follow the truth wherever it leads. 4. In early stages, be selective in who you tell. 5. Let go of unreasonable guilt/shame and fear. 6. Look for new sources of support & affirmation. #ExChristian
