I'm cheap so I thought I'd never go to a Michelin star restaurant, but yesterday I got to go for free. One of their courses features plankton. Yes the little floaty things that live in the ocean. Yet another win for my horseshoe theory of dining. I could imagine some destitute fisherman settling for plankton on days he doesn't manage to catch a fish.

Waterworld (1995) is over-hated. Strip away the budget jokes and what’s left is a huge, strange, ambitious adventure packed with real stunts and a fully built world. It’s messy, but there’s way more movie there than people remember.

We hear rumors and snippets of information from their prison system of vile human rights abuses that would probably make even Stalin blush.
There is this thing called the kwanliso... a political prison camp where many political offenders, along with three generations of their relatives under the "guilt-by-association" rule, disappear forever, facing a fate worse than death.
Lethal labor camps, guaranteed starvation, physical abuse beyond imagination, and no medical care... a total generational erasure.
Imagine the conviction of will someone must have to do that, knowing the fate that will follow.

I looked at the fantasy rpg field and just decided to completely avoid it. That’s why the rpgs I worked on are all different settings. Call of Cthulhu & Ghostbusters, & Superworld are modern-era. ElfQuest is the Pini’s world. Hyperspace rpg (in progress) is science fiction. I’m staying out of it.

This story is nuts. This guy, Igor Komarov, the son of a Ukrainian crime boss, was kidnapped in Bali 2 weeks ago by some people who said his dad stole a ton of money from them.
They broke his legs, cut off his fingers, and tortured the hell out of him and made him film a bunch of hostage videos disclosing how his family’s business scams people.
Anywho, he’s dead now. Dad didn’t pay the ransom. Crazy stuff.
