Morning Mustard Seed: 25May26 “Gather to me my faithful ones, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice!” The heavens declare his righteousness, for God himself is judge. Call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.” Psalms 50:5-6, 15 “God's love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. Beloved, since God loved us so much, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God lives in us, and his love is perfected in us. There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear.” 1 John 4:9-12, 18

Today was such a beautiful day. I stayed home and enjoyed seeing so much patriotism, love and admiration right here on X. Honoring, valuing and remembering our great hero’s who selflessly sacrificed their lives to preserve our freedoms. It was incredible and it amplified all the reasons why I love this country. God bless you all and God bless America!

Robert C. Burke was only eighteen years old barely stepping into adulthood. While most people his age were thinking about studies, friends, or future plans, he had already joined the U.S. Marine Corps. On May 17, 1968, during Operation Allen Brook in South Vietnam, his unit advanced into a dry riverbed surrounded by dense trees. Without warning, the enemy opened fire-mortars, automatic weapons, and explosions erupted all at once. Within moments, the Marines were trapped in the open, pinned down with wounded soldiers unable to move. Burke quickly understood the situation: if those enemy positions were not suppressed, many of his comrades would not make it out alive. He picked up his machine gun and moved forward alone, pushing directly toward the strongest fire. From exposed ground, he laid down intense suppressive fire into the tree line, creating just enough cover for the wounded to be pulled back. When his weapon jammed, he didn't retreat. He grabbed an M16 rifle and grenades from a fallen Marine and continued advancing, clearing position after position under heavy fire. At one point, he deliberately exposed himself in open terrain to draw enemy attention away from his unit, allowing others to withdraw safely. He kept fighting until he physically could no longer continue. He was just eighteen years old. For his actions, he was awarded the Medal of Honor and became one of the youngest recipients recognized for heroism in the Vietnam W@r.

Gone but not forgotten 1SG Edwín Antonio Matos-Colón , 42, of Aibonito, Aibonito Municipality, Puerto Rico, assigned to Division Artillery, 25th Infantry Division (Light), Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. He was one of fifteen U.S. service members killed on April 6, 2005 along with three civilian contractors whose names are unavailable, when the CH-47 Chinook helicopter in which she was riding in crashed in Ghazni, Afghanistan. The transport helicopter crashed in a sandstorm as it returned to Bagram from a routine supply and transport mission. A Vin Diesel look alike who was stern, fun and loved his country. #neverforgotten #ultimatesacrifice #MemorialDay

This Memorial Day, I'm remembering my aunt Maggie's brother PFC Juan Daniel Aguiar, 9th Infantry Division, 3rd Battalion, 60th Infantry, B Company, killed in Vietnam before his 21st birthday. My cousin Gina never got a chance to meet her uncle. War is a terrible thing.

This Memorial Day, I'd like to honor my husband's brother. Don joined the Marines at 17 yrs old (with permission from my in-laws). He was KIA just 3 days shy of his 19th birthday. It wrecked my mother-in-law. Remembering all those heroes who gave all. 🇺🇸🙏❤️

Every #MemorialDay, I take a look at all who died in service. I read their stories, where they grew up and how they died. Marine Corporal #RamonaValdez (June 26, 1984 – June 23, 2005) was from the Bronx, graduated from Jane Adams and went to community college. She enlisted right on Fordham Road to serve in the Marines. She died in combat at the tender age of 20. Let's keep her in our prayers today. #TheBronx

To my brother in Christ and the family he left behind, I still vividly recall assisting with the memorial service. The most challenging part was witnessing the removal of his coffin from the chapel, marking the commencement of his final journey home. Army Sgt. James M. Darrough, whose full name was James Michael Darrough, was a 38-year-old soldier hailing from Austin, Texas (later Clarksville, Tennessee). Tragically, he lost his life in action on October 29, 2011, in Kabul Province, Afghanistan, during Operation Enduring Freedom. It was the result of wounds sustained when enemy forces launched an attack on his vehicle using a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED or IED). This incident occurred in the Bagram/Kabul region. Sgt. Darrough was part of the 101st Finance Company, which was a unit within the 101st Special Troops Battalion, 101st Sustainment Brigade, and the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). These units were based at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Regrettably, three other soldiers lost their lives in the same incident: Lt. Col. David E. Cabrera, Staff Sgt. Christopher R. Newman, and Sgt. Carlo F. Eugenio.

MEMORIAL DAY: Twenty years ago, when I asked my husband, a retired Army Lt. Col, where he had been all day with our two-year-old son, he said "visiting with friends." It took me a moment to realize what he meant. Along with his Army buddies, they spent the day at Arlington National Cemetery @ArlingtonNatl visiting graves. Between Iraq and Afghanistan, this generation has given so much and lost so many friends.

1stLt Mike Johnson, a Marine I had the privilege of serving alongside, who lost his life in the Battle of Ganjgal in Afghanistan on September 8, 2009. The events of that battle also led to Dakota Meyer receiving the Medal of Honor. He was part of my platoon during The Basic School - Fox Company in 2007. Never could I have imagined that just a few years later, my classmates would make the ultimate sacrifice. The spirit of a hero lives on as long as their name is remembered. By continuing to honor them, we ensure their legacy remains everlasting. Rest in peace, hero. 🪖🙏🏼🕊️
