“It’s an understanding of the game that’s a little bit deeper than just playing really fast… it’s a understanding of feel, like Donte has made 2 in a row, let’s get him his third shot or Ant hasn’t had a shot in 5 possessions let’s get Ant a shot or how can I get him an easy bucket or decision making, you got a 3 on 1 fast break and you got one guy whose cold and you need him to get hot and you got another guy who has made a couple, you go hey let me try and get an easy one for the guy who hasn’t made a shot… if you have a high IQ you can kind of see the play develop, you know what’s going to happen and you can start talking your way in and out of situations”

It's always a good idea for the coach to have a goal with every interaction they have with their players. Whatever Pitino wants from his player, do you think this is the **best** way to get him to change the way he's playing?

My stance on this is that the coach has to assume the shot is going in and be prepared to call timeout. There’s an official on the baseline as well, if he’s going to stand there, sprint at the baseline official that’s stationary, not the official who’s responsible for turning his back to you and running down the floor.

Watch the Santa Clara coach right as they make the 3 to take the lead…he goes to call the timeout immediately but doesn’t get it granted…. Ref has to be aware of this no?!?!?

Are we just going to keep making the argument that Wemby shouldn’t win DPOY because he’ll eventually win DPOY? Or we could just exercise normal behavior and give the best defender DPOY

totally fair! I just think Wemby's going to be SO good and win so many of these that I'm not inclined to give it to him early just because he's physically 1 of 1. fewer than. 30minutes per game, one of three players, one of two (Jaren) who won it with fewer than 30 in less than 70 games

One of the more fascinating developments out here is most folks' lack of understanding of how defensive rotations work. I have yet to see anybody correctly point out the player who was most at fault on this play. It's wild.
